To ask what vitamins you take?

I am feeling so rough at the moment and no help from the doctor regarding it. I have been looking into vitamins and trying to decide if any might be beneficial. What vitamins do you take and have you had a noticeable improvement after taking them?

Loads of vitamin d as I'm deficient.

Lots of vit C as im prescribed this in high doses to help another prescription med be absorbed better.

Govt advice is for everyone to take 400iu of vit d a day as it's pretty much impossible to get enough from diet and sun.

And 70% of the population are deficient and need more than 400iu.

B complex is the only vit that I’ve noticed an energy difference . A real little pick me up.

Scaredofthedark1986 · 09/03/2019 22:30

Annoyingly it just says vitamin K so I’m not sure. Just browsing on amazon though I can see some multivitamins that specify K2 so when this one runs out in a month I’ll replace with one of them and once my vitamin D runs out if I need more I’ll look into the combined ones. Thank you for your advice.

Vit D daily

B12 3 monthly via jab

Lellochip · 09/03/2019 23:17

Vit D, 10000ui every other day roughly. Was daily but got my levels right up so eased off. K2 and magnesium, to work with the D. Also take folate daily as I was deficient. Was taking B12 as I'm lower end of 'normal' but I've run out, and ideally would like to raise iron levels but the tablets play havoc with my stomach...

Had many periods of fatigue over the years, doctors never offered more than "being tired is normal" so now try and keep the usual culprits at optimal levels.

Hiddenaspie1973 · 09/03/2019 23:18

Just multivitamins with iron.

Thank you so much everyone for the replies. It’s been really helpful to see what vitamins people take and why. I just hope if I alter mine and maybe add a couple more things in that I actually start to feel better.

Hi ladies, a bit confused about Folic acid and pregnancy complex. Folic acid 400 mg and in Pregnancy complex 400 ug. Shall I take both?
I’ve got both but realized it’s different amount.

Thank you in advance x

I had my Vit D tested as a full panel and it was fine. I have B12 injections every 8 weeks and take Biotin and Omega 3 capsules even though my consultant told me its bollocks Grin.

I love MN for the tunnel vision approach to life.

Vitamins/minerals are crucial for good health for some people whose body doesn't convert in the same way others do and whom would otherwise need to eat a cow a day, for a multitude of reasons such as pre existing conditions, heavy periods, organ failure...

My organs are shagged thanks to chemo and Liver/kidney functioning below par so I drink gallons but very easily get dehydrated and have to take daily mineral supplements which seems to also help with cramp and UTIs. I have a mainly vegan diet (can't digest dairy) so I take an all singing all dancing multi vit with extra B-vits.

If I don't take my daily dose or miss a couple days I am tired, dizzy, low, get cramp....
I have a healthy diet and exercise but I'm smaller build and not sure I'd physically be able to digest all the food required to meet all my health needs, so for many it is well worth spending time getting it right.
