To ask about tampons

Sorry if this is a bit personal. I’m going somewhere in a few weeks that’s going to be orientated around swimming and water. I’m likely to be on my period and I’m so pissed off.

I’ve never used a tampon before. I’m quite squeamish/prudish or whatever the word is regarding anything to do with such things. I’m 32 if that’s relevant. I’m considering trying tampons so I can wear a swimsuit and swim. Will I struggle first time. The thought of it makes me sick but needs must.

Essentially, I just want to know are they easy to use? I’m guessing yes as thousands of women do. I think I have a vague memory of trying once and not being able to do it and freaking out.

I've used tampons for 20 years and recently switched to a mooncup and I've found them SO much smoother and easier to insert, as well as more leakproof. I swim a couple of times a week and I think you'll be fine with either tampons or the mooncup, they're both reliable.
Also as per PP, please don't flush tampons.

If you have had kids surely a tampon would be a breeze :)

My daughter swims competitively for a club so introduced her to tampons right from the beginning. I use them too and would have no hesitation using them for swimming. Otherwise it spoils your holiday.

I prefer normal Tampax. She prefers Tampax Compact.

I love tampons. My periods are heavy for the first 2-3 days and I feel so much cleaner using a tampon. I use a liner as well in case of leaks.

I just hate feeling like I’m sitting in blood.

The pearl tampax ones are really smooth and easy to insert so I would go with those. Why don't you use some lubricant and have a test run?

when i used to have periods i used lillets not sure if they still make them if you feel like you can insert them try a bit of lube for swimming nothing better
