To turn down a job offer based on this requirement

I have been offered a job where I am required to do some driving in Europe ( 2- 3 hr journeys). There are no other options as sites are in very remote locations so no trains or taxis. I am a very nervous driver and the thought of driving on the wrong side by myself really puts me off.
I also have another offer and currently trying to weigh the pros and cons of both jobs .
Am I unreasonable to even think this will be a problem and worry about it or should I just get a grip and think I’ll be fine.

Thank you all so much. I have decided to take the job and to deal with the driving. It is an amazing opportunity and it would be silly to turn it down based just on this. The location is remote so no driving in big cities.

Congratulations on going for it. I think being a bit uneasy about driving on the other side of the road has been helpful to me when driving abroad because in the beginning I've been hyperalert to staying in the correct lane. And with practice the anxiety fades away anyway. I'd wouldn't be altogether easy with someone who was breezy & cavalier about suddenly having to drive on the other side, in fact.

Yeah - good luck OP.
You'll be fab!

I've been driving since 1980 (!) and travel abroad quite often but have never driven on the other side of the road and wouldn't take a job that asked me to do it. I do quite a bit of motorway driving in this country.

Well done OP. You'll definitely get used to it. Ask the company if you could go a day early on the first trip. Then book some driving lessons with an English speaking instructor.

Driving lessons planned before the actual driving.

I have an EU licence, moved to the UK 6 years ago (after 12 years on the other side of the road) and took me 1 month of lessons to master the left hand side. But I'm dyspraxic and can't do anything with my left hand! You'll be way quicker than me to do the other way round.

@YellowFish123 oh I remember you from the sick leave thread, unmistakable 😁

Well done OP

It's very easy to drive a RHD car in Europe as well. I've been doing it for 13 years now!

Well good for you autrejou make sure as well as work you enjoy the finer things that counties such as France has to offer:-)

If the job is a good one, get a grip and go for it! Maybe some additional driving lessons/practice will help with nervousness?
