To ask for help with baby name

I’m due a dd2 soon and I’m getting stupidly stressed about a name, I know it’s silly and I am trying to relax about it but for some strange reason it’s keeping me awake at nights. Dd1 was named after someone very close to me so there was never any debate to her name so nothing this time seems to feel right. And I can’t help thinking not being able to name her somehow reflects on my feelings for this baby although I know it’s stupid

Can anyone make suggestions of feminine an unusual names as I really can’t even think anymore

Oh, Florence and Juliette are lovely. Are there any women’s names in your family you could use for inspiration - Ellen or Ellie from Eleanor, for example?

Why don't you post this on the baby names board? Lots of experts hang out there...

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 06/03/2019 11:00

What sort of names do you like?! It’s pointless umpteen posters suggesting a name when none of us know your style.

Agree you’d be better of posting in Baby names.

Hey, my name is Nafsika! That’s the modern Greek version of Nausicaa - no one uses Nausicaa in modern Greek, we use Ναυσικά.

But yes, don’t call your baby Nafsika either. It’s a never ending pain.

PlainSpeakingStraightTalking · 06/03/2019 14:10

Seriously ? Would you use any of the names in this offering? Of course you wouldnt, it just an excuse for people to be daft.

Get a baby book of names.

You're obviously not going to disclose personal information like the name used for your first child, but if it was eg Simon, you simply are not going to used something that sounds like a sea sickeness drug are you Nausicaa Hmm

Ditto if your eldest is the obligatory ridiculous Ptolemy Hmm you arent going to call the next one Jane.

You arent going to get a string of siblings called Anastasia, Francesca, Claudette and ........ Mildred .............. or Thomas, Simon, David and ...... Jaxxon

Names go in patterns, only you know the best fit.

People rarely use wildly differing styles of names.

I wish I was in a place ever to have another lo but I doubt it. If I did I’d name her Lela.

Nausicaa means she who loves the sea and was the princess of Ithaca in the Odyssey. It has the same root as nautical and other words relating to the sea, which unfortunately include nausea. The modern pronounciation of Nafsika is not that close to nausea, more like naff! 🤪
