To ask if a tooth root can be removed without anaesthetic?

My daughter's boyfriend messaged her to say he couldn't make it to see her as he had been in pain all weekend and was having a tooth root removed. He said it was painful, but he chose not to have local anaesthetic. Also said he had to pay for the treatment but he doesn't have a job.

Is this likely? She believes him of course but I don't think this can be true?

Dowser that's what the dentist said - your face will be numb and frozen for hours and hours, so if you trust me we'll give it a go without. I didn't fancy slobbering for half the day so decided to give it a go. I was so proud I was telling everyone - I've just had a back molar filled and with zero anaesthetic!

It totally depends on his pain threshold. I've had a fair bit of dental treatment without anaesthetic as last time I had one the injection hit a nerve or something. The pain of the injection was excrutiating and half of my bottom lip was numb for over a week and a half. I'd rather just brave the pain now.

I've been lucky so far and never had to have a root canal, but I'd imagine it would be excruciatingly painful without anaesthetic. Perhaps he meant he only had a local anaesthetic and not a general?

Thought you'd like to know that my daughter was sent a photo taken on the evening of said dental work taking place.

Unless the dentist was doing homework in the form of tongue investigations, he was with out with a blonde bimbo. Turns out she had her own suspicions and had sent a mate to track him
