@ValleyoftheHorses babe! Grin

Catmint · 04/03/2019 21:41

DD, 12 still calls me Mummy. Or Moo-Ma or The Moopode. Or puddywuddy, which I loathe.
I'd like to be known as Sky Moo like the lovely creatures on the Clangers.

TwoleftUggs · 04/03/2019 21:43

14 and 11, and both still call me mummy. DS tries to say Mum in public but forgets a lot, unless he’s with his football mates. Then we are definitely Mum and Dad. DD14 doesn’t care what her friends think, I assume there’s been no teasing though.

nombrecambio · 04/03/2019 21:45

My 2 year old has started calling me "mum" but she's an inherent piss taker!

bookworm9229 · 04/03/2019 21:47

I have a 16 , 14 and 12 year old and I am still Mummy .

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 04/03/2019 21:53

Got called mammy for a couple of months then I was Mam.Ds is now 5

BollocksToBrexit · 04/03/2019 21:54

How would they know your actual name? Isn’t mummy/daddy etc something that they learn? My DD knows I have another name but didn’t know this till long after she was calling me mummy.

He never learnt it. I don't know why. He just went straight to names. We tried to get him to say mummy and daddy but he just wouldn't use them. Eventually we gave up. He's autistic, maybe that has something to do with it.

BeaLola · 04/03/2019 21:55

My DS (11) still calls me Mummy or Mumma . In front of friends he sometimes calls me Mum. I like both - hopefully he won’t ever call me Mother !

My. Brother since adulthood calls my Dad by his first name - I hate this - it feels like he is talking about an acquaintance rather than our lovely Dad .

Gindrinker43 · 04/03/2019 21:57

I've given both mine, 10 and 13 the option of Mum and they don't use it, I do get called Mother quite a bit. I work with children and I always refer to parents as Mummy and Daddy until told otherwise.

freddiethegreat · 04/03/2019 22:00

At my grandfather’s funeral, my mum was 50 & my aunt was 44. There were comments about how nice it was that they both used ‘Mummy’ & ‘Daddy’. I don’t though (now 43)... but I still think it sometimes. My son definitely goes for Mum.

Wishiwasincornwall · 04/03/2019 22:03

My son mostly calls me Bro or mate Hmm

Slowknitter · 04/03/2019 22:03

Mine are 10 and 13 and still call us mummy and daddy. It neve4 seems to have occurred to them to change to mum and dad.

anniehm · 04/03/2019 22:05

Mine call me mama, and they can both vote! It varies so much, I do find it sweet that they even use it when talking to friends, they also call their dad papa for no apparent reason despite me referring to him as dad(dy) go figure!

GroggyLegs · 04/03/2019 22:08

Rule in our house is Mommy until school and then they can call me Mom if they want to Grin

I'll be sad when it ends.

DontCallMeCharlotte · 04/03/2019 22:08

Two of my colleagues still refer to "Mummy". They're both in their 50s.

NorthernBullet · 04/03/2019 22:11

Mine never used it. I don't know why, but 'mammy', 'mummy' and 'daddy' really grate on me 😬

SpotlessMind · 04/03/2019 22:19

Mine went from mammy to mummy around 3 years old, and from Mummy to mum around 6 years old - influence of nursery and school I guess. My mum refers to her parents as mammy and daddy but only started doing that after they died (my mum was in her late 50s by then). I guess it comforted her though I find it strange to hear adults using those terms.

Duckyneedsaclean · 04/03/2019 22:20

I still call my mummy mummy

PrincessConsuelaBananahamm0ck · 04/03/2019 22:20

Mine are 11 and 8. We're still Mummy and Daddy. I asked them the other day if they'd prefer to start calling me Mum but they didn't like the idea. I am 'Mum' if they're talking about me to other people people though.

moomoogalicious · 04/03/2019 22:23

I'm still mummy. My dc are 16, 14 and 12. My eldest is autistic so that's my name and that's that and the other 2 have followed suit. They call me mummy in front of their friends too.

Catscratchclub · 04/03/2019 22:25

I’ve literally just texted my mum “night night mummy” Blush

Ds calls me mummy or Mama and is 7. He conspiratorially told me the other day that he knew my name was “catscratch” because he had heard one of my friends calling me it Grin

PissOffPeppa · 04/03/2019 22:28

My aunt always called my grandparents Mummy and Daddy, and she was in her 50s when they died. she’s quite posh though

GrandTheftWalrus · 04/03/2019 22:36

DD is 2 and a half and has only recently started calling me mummy and I've waited a REALLY long time to hear anyone call me mummy so I hope she does for as long as possible.

I call my mum "mum, mammy or maw"

RightOnTheEdge · 04/03/2019 22:38

My dd is 8 and has switched to Mum, ds 6 has copied her.
She thinks Mummy is embarrassing and babyish now Sad

theliverpoolone · 04/03/2019 22:39

My dd's 11 and I've started signing cards/texts to her as Mum rather than Mummy, as it does seem a bit 'young' now. She sometimes calls me Mummy still, sometimes 'Mu-u-m' in that resigned pre-tween tone they develop!
