What does an “average” work day look like for your DP?

Inspired by the other ongoing thread here:
www.mumsnet.com/Talk/am_i_being_unreasonable/3522839-What-does-an-average-work-day-look-like-for-you

Also helpful to state whether you (the mum) is a SAHM or full-time/part-time working parent. And no mudslinging the DHs either way please - let's be kind...

So my DP:

05:00 - wake up and start working (laptop - emails)
06:30 - DS(3) wakes up
07:40 - DP takes DS to nursery
08:10 - DP drops DS off
08:40 - DP arrives in the office
09:00 to 16:30 - usually back to back meetings with half hour lunchtime break
16:30 - work emails
17:15 - leaves to collect DS from nursery
18:15 - reaches home

My DP is self employed & works from home. He's recently gained quite a few new clients so business if great atm and he has the potential for. commissions ranging from £1-30k depending on projects.

8am he wakes up, coffee, walks the dog.

9/10am starts work, laptop stuff or phone calls all day usually with a lunch break at some point and he takes the dog out again.
Sometimes he goes to sites or London for meetings.

6/7pm stops working, we take dog out together and have dinner/
Fri & Sat we usually go out and have dinner/date & time together.

On mon-thurs & Sunday's he will resume work after dinner till around 10/11pm, sometimes till 2am.

He works so hard and loves it. Been doing it for 10 years now.

He gets up at 5am,
Out of the house by 5:30am
Ruining people's day by 6/6:30am
Home by 2/3ish.

He's a bailiff.

Until recently (in a different job) he was put of the house 9am-8pm and doing double shifts on weekends. I'm at home with DC.

Dh is a GP. On an ordinary day it's:

7.15 - gets up
7.45 -leaves house
9-12 - morning surgery
12-2 - phonecalls, home visits, visit nursing home.
2-4 - paperwork eg DSS forms, dictation for referrals etc etc
4-5.30 - evening surgery
5.30 - 7 more paperwork
8 - arrives home

That's a pretty standard day. He can leave at 7 most nights as he does an on-call shift or 2 through the week and then can work on paperwork/catchup until whenever - often midnight or later. He also works on call weekends (6pm Friday - 8am Monday) every 6 weeks on average.

He reckons it averages out at 56-60 hours per week.

Standard day and he has flexible working time
Leave between 8 and 9.45
Home 7.30 to 8

But that is interspersed with trips abroad and all over UK sometimes with only a couple of days notice. So he is off to overnight tomorrow. He covered all of Asia in his role when DS was a baby, that was a pita as I was also working full time. But I knew exactly what I signed up for. I’m just glad that we didn’t have to relocate to another country which was a possibility. He does do some work at home as well, it varies a lot depending on deadlines. I remember my old work colleagues saying how awful it sounds but I like plenty of space to myself so it’s good for me.

I'm a sahm to school age children so I do most of the jobs at home.

DH gets up at 5:45, gets himself ready. Sometimes gets youngest a bowl of cereal before he leaves at 7:00.

Gets into work about 8:00. Works quite hard. Eats pack up I made for him night before for lunch.

Heads home about 5:30, arrives at 6:30. We eat dinner straight away or if DC have activities then I save him a plate.

Sometimes he'll play a game with youngest, sometimes he has a 30 minute nap. He usually works a bit more for an hour or so after dc in bed, sometimes he goes to the gym or reads until bed. In bed at 11.

DC have a lot of activities and generally if the activity finishes after 8:30 pm DH collects them.
