AIBU to ask how long it would take you to save 50k??

It's mine and my partners current target to save £50k which would be enough for a 15% house deposit and some left over for fees and furniture.

We have been saving now for 4.5 years and managed to save 40k between us so guess if I were to answer the question I would say 5.5 years in total. (Just to add no dc and cheap rent and generally cutting costs... rarely buy clothes, meals outside etc)

Aibu to ask you how long it would take to save 50k?

Just realised I don't know if this post will make it look like I am bragging, I don't mean to and I hope it doesn't come across that way, I know we are in a very very fortunate position to be able to save so much!

I do a bit of cam work at the moment so it depends on how much effort I put in that. Probably 5 years if I put effort in

Five months, we live in a not very nice place and DH is well paid. I am too by UK standards, which allows us to save this much.

I saved £70k in 5 years living with my parents.

Now I guess we could save it in probably 7/8 years.

Three months.

I'm a bit pissed off with a thread recently where the OP was being financially abused, but, because they had 4k a month spare the OP was seen as being a goady fucker.

I'm generally pissed off.

If we moved back in with parents and lived off rice and beans then perhaps 5

4 years at current savings rate.

When I was working we could have done it in a year.

I never share my financial situation with people I actually know.

About 80 years if we were lucky!

If I didn't have a mortgage, loan or children then I would save £50k in no time. I do have those, so... maybe ten or fifteen years if I didn't spend a bean elsewhere.

@ILikeyourHairyHands was that the “we can afford chicken but DH is angry about it” thread? If so, I could see what was coming and didn't read past the OP.
