Both my DM and DF have recently moved into care homes due to ill health. They are self funding. In the last few years when they were still in their own home they gave my 2 DNs £1000. each when they passed their driving tests. Would it be seen as 'diverting assets'if they were to give a similar sum to my DD when she passes her test. My DS and I have LPA, and are managing their finances.

ALargeGin - we also visited some shocking ‘care’ homes. We had appointments, they knew we were coming and the residents had dirty clothes, matted hair, sitting in a silent lounge area with the curtains closed - it was a lovely bright summers day. Absolutely heart breaking.

We were incredibly lucky to find the home we did and mum spent 7 years there. The staff were amazing and seemed to genuinely care about them. Her key worker cried when mum died a few weeks ago.

As you say though, very expensive at £1K per week Shock
