I see it a lot on here and sometimes with friends,
I wouldn’t even consider 4 children particularly large.
5+ yes. But 3? definitely not.

2 is average, 3 is larger than average....

Most people I know have 2 (or 1 but planning a second). I don't know many people with more, although one of my friends is 1 of 4 and another is 1 of 6! I would like 3 and honestly I think most of my family / friends will consider that large.

I have four - it's largish but not big, but does mean things like bigger car, most things you can't get a family ticket to - so I can see many thinking of it as large

When my elder three were little we couldn't even take them all swimming as we didn't met the adult requirements to supervise, but three didn't feel big

I am in a large family group though and that is 4+ children (any combination so that can be made up of step children as well as biological) but it does mean that I feel like I don't have many as compared to there I don't.

Well I suppose one has to ask whether or not it matters if someone has a large family....

So - we have three DC and can afford to more than comfortably so whilst it's a large family it doesn't matter. I know people who have 4,5 or more who are struggling massively and in that case i would view that as a large family and it does matter.

So IMHO what a large family is, depends on what you can afford. Sorry.

Bragelina could afford all their children but I don't think anyone would deny that they had a big family

I'd also class 4+ As a big family.. My logic is the average car has 5 seats so having to buy a bigger 7 seater car means big family lol
