To think I can lose 2 stone in 12 weeks?

Please someone tell me it’s possible and they have done it...
I’m so annoyed with my self. I wanted to lose ideally 2.5 stone. I started in January and keep doing well for a week and then getting lazy. I’ve now lost out on 7 weeks and I could kick myself.
I’ve lowered my goal to 2 stone. I’m aiming to go to the gym at least 2-3 times a week but some weeks it’s not possible.
Can I do it? If I’m really strict with what I eat?

I use my fitness pal, it recommends 1200 calories but I think I should aim for less

Unless you are really short don't aim for less than 1200. 1200 is fine.

If strict yes. I did 2 stone in 8 weeks at uni (10st-8st) by doing 1-2 hours at the gym 5 days a week and eating 1,000 calories a day.

It was hard though - knackered at 6pm, so hungry I couldn't think hard.

I'm doing Fast 800 (Michael Moseley) and I lost 9lbs in my first week. I've got quite a lot to lose but even so. It's surprisingly easy when you get used to it. I'm expecting to lose at least that in 12 weeks.

Going to try some of these tips!

Im the same weight as you and aiming for the same - I've just started the 800 diet. I'm aiming for 800 calories 5-6 times a week. I'm lazy and have seriously let my weight go. I'm going to do it this time.

I've lost 16lbs since 14th Jan - main bulk of it lost by giving up alcohol for three weeks. It's coming off slower now - I'm hoping to lose 8lbs in the next six weeks, if I lost a stone it would be amazing but not realistic for me. We have a holiday in mid-April too.

I find WW online is great - I don't have the time for the classes but the online version is really helpful for keeping on track. I'm also doing one or two meat-free days during the week which is easier than I thought. I also try to have dinner earlier in the day once or twice a week, I find that's worked too.

Can you manage to fast for 12 hours? Basically eat early and now more until breakfast? You could try the fast 800 for a kickstart and then go to 5:2. (Michael Moseley). The recipes are delicious and you will kick your carbohydrate cravings! Though you can still have oats and healthy carbs.
Good luck.

Blood sugar diet

Hey OP, that's a huge amount to drop in 12 weeks, chances are you won't sustain it especially if you won't maintain it over your holiday. But it can be done, but I promise you you might need to think seriously about how much exercise you are able to do, as that will seriously increase your chances.

I recently dropped a stone over an 8 week period, got below 20% body fat. You want to double that weight loss. To achieve that I ate very few carbs. No sugar/booze. Survived on 1'200 calories a day. Trained/exercised 6/7 times a week. Burned 400-700 calories per session and was surprised at the end of it I hadn't lost my job or my husband! But I had shifted the weight. I've not pilled it back on, but it's creeping slowly back. (Even when still training to the same level weekly)

I got weighed again. I have more to lose than you Op. But for 8 weeks I have lost an average of 2.5lbs. Some weeks lost nothing and then the next week I have lost more.

I am going to start the blood sugar diet today for the health benefits rather than just the weight loss. I also have introduced intermittent fasting. I like it because it gets rid of bloating and after a few days I feel loads healthier

dorisdog · 28/02/2019 10:28

I lost a stone in 2 months with a mix of interval training (got a heart monitor and phone app and recorded it properly) + recording my calories (very approximately) on myfitnesspal. It worked and I still record my calories which has kept the weight off (mostly.) I went from 10st 4lb to 9st 2lb.

I think you've just go to find what works for you. Interval training shifted some weight quite quickly and recording my calories daily stops me overeating, but also helps me not obsess over daily calorie amounts. It's more of a way to check how it's going week by week.

I know people say you shouldn't do this, but i weigh myself daily. Seems to work for me.

1166 Kcal defecit per day. That's probably quite a lot to sustain over 12 weeks. A bit easier for men as we tend to burn more due to size/muscle mass.

Lots of walking would help with the deficit so you can eat more and feel less hungry all the time. Recommend switching to v low carb (Keto) with 24 hour fasting, i.e. one meal a day. That'll help keep hunger and calories in check. Not easy for the uninitiated though.
