I know that emails are sent out on Friday but does anybody know what time offers are published online? Is it midnight Thursday/Friday like primary school offers were?

Why Wigeon? Does it matter?

Cuddlysnowleopard · 28/02/2019 19:41

@wigeon I've been trying to think where. I know last year some schools published on their websites just before the emails came out. Ricky certainly did. Mind you, it was all over the place because of the snow.

DS1 was 4 years ago - I definitely had a link sent to me re: the cut off score, because I remember sitting in Waitrose carpark reading it.

Cuddlysnowleopard · 28/02/2019 19:43

@Wigeon the actual email doesn't say. It just has your offer.

Are you SW Herts? PM me if you like.

EduCated · 28/02/2019 19:47

lanternlady Feeder schools can and do exist, in terms of priority being given to children attending specific primary schools. However people do often talk about ‘feeder schools’ meaning schools where kids generally go up to a particular school, but where there’s not actually any priority. You will be able to tell from the admissions policy for the secondary school which it is.

Wigeon · 28/02/2019 19:49

Yup, I’m SWHerts. @Mustbetime - in our area, several of the schools are in a consortium with an academic 11+ and a music aptitude test. DD did the academic test, music test, and is the daughter of a teacher at one of the schools (DH). Most people assume she’ll definitely get in to DH’s school because of the admission rule about children of staff at that school, but it’s quite low down the hierarchy of rules, and several other staff have applied for their DC under that rule this year. So I’ll be curious about which rule she is officially admitted under, if her music and/or academic scores are also high enough to get in under. But it doesn’t really matter in the general scheme of things!

anniehm · 28/02/2019 19:54

When my dd1 transferred (14 here) we got a letter on the first, the email arrived around 4pm. No website. Two years later dd2 was by email at 9am on the dot

Cuddlysnowleopard · 28/02/2019 19:56

@wigeon you can work it out, once you get the cut off scores. So if you qualify under more than one rule, it's the highest on the admission criteria that counts. So, for eg. sibling with a high academic score qualifies as a sibling.

Cuddlysnowleopard · 28/02/2019 19:57

Also, elevenplusforum are usually quick at updating their cut off info.

lanternlady · 28/02/2019 21:30

EduCated- thanks for the reply , I have had a look on the secondaries website and it does list dc's primary as part of a list of 6 schools and their primary is the top of the list , it's just doesn't use the term Feeder , just parish boundary, so none the wiser really

TheGrandHighWitch · 28/02/2019 22:08

Aaaaaarrrrrggghhh!

I am trying to log into the school application system but it won’t let me. I know I’m using the right details because I logged in earlier today with them to make sure I had the right details. Do you think I’m locked out while they’re updating the system?

Wigeon · 28/02/2019 22:09

Ah, thanks Cuddly, obvious re the rules when you think about it! Should know by this time tomorrow.

Echobelly · 28/02/2019 22:12

I think where we are sends an email in the evening! Maybe I'll logon earlier JIC, though think my password might be written down at work and I'm working from home!

Echobelly · 28/02/2019 22:14

Ah no, logon saved on my home computer. Still think they email here though, definitely happened with primary applications.

Crikeyblimey · 28/02/2019 22:39

Don’t panic TheGrandHighWitch - they will have temporarily disabled the site so they can upload the offers and have it all ready for tomorrow.

TheGrandHighWitch · 28/02/2019 22:55

Thank you @Crikeyblimey. I must admit to feeling a bit panicked then. It seems you are right though as there's now a message telling me that the system is currently unavailable and that it will be available on 'national offer day'. Just hope that means midnight for my LEA.

Glitterblue · 02/03/2019 12:44

I was surprised to get our letter about DD's middle school place yesterday, I thought it would only be posted yesterday. Thankfully she got the one we wanted.
