We are moving next week and we are planning to dig up a tree and take it with us, plus other stuff. Did say we would take one or two setimental plants...
What have you taken and what happened. Funny stories please.

Reading this leaves me sad though.
In the front garden of my previous house I had a bed of plants which were all grown from cuttings given to me by my late grandmother, a keen gardener.
It didn't occur to me at the time that I could dig up the plants and take them with me.
Next time I went past the new owne had paved the whole frontage so I can't even go back and ask for cuttings. Sad

Oh, I had also forgotten that our previous owners took with them all the manuals and documentation for the boiler, the burglar alarm, the oven, the dishwasher...
Obviously I can get the instructions online, it's just a royal pain. However the appliances were under warranty as newish but I can't prove that as they took the documents.

They also left a load of keys and remote keyfobs. After 6 months we couldn't work out what they were for so emailed photos to previous owner. They also had no idea what they were for Hmm
(house was new build when they moved in, so not left by owners prior to them)

When I bought my first house the CF sellers stripped one of the bedrooms bare (only one) as in, they took the radiator and the skirting boards !!! We later discovered they had cut the phone lines too. Must have pissed them off somehow !

When we moved i took a rose tree that was given to me when my daugter passed away, the rose had the same name as my daugter had.
The buyers complained even though it was made clear we would take it. Twats.
It survived and is growing beautifully in my new home.

When viewing houses we were at a house that was a strong contender. It was just about right and the beautiful garden, full of camellia bushes, was in its favour. Then the owners said the bushes were not part of the sale and they would be digging up all 6 bushes. We didn’t buy it.

firawla · 23/02/2019 21:35

Our vendors took the doorbell which I thought was pretty cheeky, and they didn’t set up postal redirect so they came along knocking on the door to ask for any mail - bit of a brass neck after taking the doorbell?! They also ripped out fitted wardrobes leaving us to have to plaster the wall Shock

Bignosenobum · 23/02/2019 23:22

AGHHHH
Yes. We bought the house and they wanted it back. We didnt take to the house so we sold it back for a small consideration. So they just wanted an empty garden. We put loads of planting in and thinking they might pull them up. They love the house and we have bought a house on a 1960s housing estate my idea of heaven. So there you. And am sorry if our buyers are reading this.

I have decided to only take my sons teeny weeny tree. Plus the other stuff previously referred to but is in no way an admission of giilt or could be seen by a jury as a hanging offence by boring bastardos.

I'd got pink tinted light bulbs in all my ceiling lights, they are getting harder to get. I took every lightbulb with me & left those horrible spiral energy saving ones that flicker & give you headaches. I also took all the bathroom fittings like towel ring & toilet roll holder, bathroom cabinet & soft close toilet seat, I put the old broken toilet seat back on. This was moving out of a council house, not selling. I also left every bin crammed full of rubbish.

Bignosenobum · 23/02/2019 23:43
