NC but frequent poster/commenter around here.

Whilst MN is a great place to vent about DP's/DH's being not so great, what are your favourite things your OH says/does that make you happy and feel lucky to have them?

Mine are:

  • Watching how gentle and caring he is with our pets.
  • Seeing how he interacts with our son, how he plays with and talks to him with so much love.
  • That he cooks and will help clean without complaining.
  • That we can talk and talk without stopping, it feels wonderful to share everything.

So what are some of yours? Hoping to make this a really positive thread Smile

He always thinks of me, the pets, or DSS.

He always makes me laugh.

He is the best chef.

He is very thoughtful and caring.

Completely got distracted from this thread but it's so lovely to see all your wonderful men doing such thoughtful things.

This thread has been such a nice read and gives me a lot of hope that there's many good guys out there who are raising children that see these examples and will hopefully carry them into their future relationships.

Thank you so much to everyone that replied, and the amount of you that have men that iron amazes me!! It seems a lot of us find similar things about our OH's great and it's comforting to read so many tales of good eggs!!

He is so chilled and balances my emotional stressy self

When I have bad period pains I get home from work and he's run me a bath 😍

We can talk rubbish for hours

We don't have children, but listening to him chat away to our cats melts my heart

He is just a lovely, calm, caring human being

He's really good at DIY jobs round the house. Can fix anything or make any flat pack furniture.

Ploppymoodypants · 22/02/2019 20:39

This is a great exercise to remind yourself of why you are together when things seem difficult. In no particular order...
Great shag
Good looking (too me at least)
Great fun
Loves an active outdoor lifestyle.
Isn’t interested in screens or games consoles or anything like that.
Never says ‘no’ when I bring home more random animals.
Always prioritises family time over hobby time or ‘time with the lads’.
Would do anything for his children.
Doesn’t ‘go down the pub’
Actively wants to be with his family over other things
Works very hard to provide
Actually really loves me even though I am v annoying (and same in reverse)

That was a good thought process, thanks OP

He’s hilarious.
He’s kind to animals.
He’s generous.
He’s thoughtful.
He has the most beautiful hands and feet - like a classical sculpture.
He looks after me.
He is utterly patient with me and my DCs.
He’s affectionate.
He’s a brilliant musician.
He’s very clever - he has three degrees.
He’s filthy 😉

Amfeelingfline · 22/02/2019 21:36

He makes me laugh
He’s a good dad
He’s here when I need him the most
We think the same way most of the time
The way he’s fitted with my family even though he doesn’t speak their language
How he’s supporting me through my anxiety after losing my mum

Amfeelingfline · 22/02/2019 21:38

And reading other posts, realised that i’ve forgotten lots Blush

Where do I start?
Dimples. He has dimples when he smiles.
Despite getting older, flabbier and jowly he still thinks I'm sexy.
I have fibromyalgia. He has never once accused me of faking it or been anything other than sympathetic and understanding.
We have two boys. Generally he will take them off for a long weekend camping about three times a year. They get great binding time and have a fantastic time and I get a few days total peace!
There's the time I went down with severe d&v overnight and he rushed out at 3am to get some more dioralyte.
He's busy getting ds1 ready to go to Parkrun even though he really dislikes running because ds1 wants to.
He was happy for me to quit my shitty retail job to be SAHP and hasn't thrown it back at me or ever made any comments about "contributing".
When I'm ill he's very caring.
He cycles a lot and as a result has a nice tight set of glutes.
I could go on for ever.

CigarsofthePharoahs · 23/02/2019 07:41

Binding time? What???
Bonding! Good grief.

FudgeBrownie2019 · 23/02/2019 07:51

I love his kindness.
I love his humour; he's very dry and makes me laugh every day.
I love the father he is.
I love that our pets adore him; cats are always a fabulous judge of character and ours have accepted him as one of their own.
I love his thoughtfulness.
I love that he gives his absolute best to us every day.
I love that he's honest about everything.
