For the way he speaks to Ruth. He's always putting her down and making disparaging remarks about the way she dresses or the things she says.
She doesn't retaliate as she's being professional, but I would like to think she calls him out on it off air.

OP posts:

I think they come across as a very loving couple and she gives as good as she gets.

I could never make my mind up about him but I have seen a few features where he has been exceptionally kind to women eg there were about ten women on an interview about alopecia and he hugged them all at the end and told them how brave they were.

Sometimes he sits close to guests if he knows they are struggling. He is warmer than Ruth.

He also seems to have a lot of time for Germaine Greer and gets a good interview out of her.

Sometimes I feel uncomfortable watching non-journalists doing the presenting but with Eamonn it feels like safe hands.

BejamNostalgia · 21/02/2019 18:02

I assume the ‘lovely’ Ruth was aware that he was married when she got involved?

He’d been split from his ex years before they got together and they apparently have a very civil relationship with each other which is part of the reason both left it so long (10 years) to divorce.

Ruth seems to very much wear the trousers in that relationship and I like her because she let them broadcast a video of her trying to Riverdance when pissed and falling over.

And Biggleton gets me 10 minutes of total silence for which I’m eternally grateful.

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2019 18:05

I always feel comfortable watching PS as he always seems to have everything under control.

EH never appears to know what's going on and asks lots of stupid questions. Maybe it's an act. Sometimes he just looks bored.

But like a PP said they are all easily avoidable thankfully. Grin

ManonBlackbeak · 21/02/2019 18:32

Of course YABU OP. He's a passionate Man United supporter and thats a fairly good indication that someone is a complete and utter twat Wink

Seriously he brings everything back to football, and just can't help it especially when he interviews someone from Merseyside.

Someone needs to remind him they are not even the best team in Manchester anymore.

Seniorcitizen1 · 21/02/2019 18:33

Can’t bear either if them - but this rowing couple on screen is an act. An act well past its sell by date

Limensoda · 21/02/2019 18:45

He is virtually unwatchable

And yet, millions watch him and he's employed and paid a fortune because he attracts viewers...how strange!

Sparklingbrook · 21/02/2019 18:47

Very strange indeed. People have weird taste.

Limensoda · 21/02/2019 18:48

He is a journalist.

Hellohappiness · 21/02/2019 19:24

Yes exactly. I know he is a journalist. I’m comparing him to Amanda Holden and Rylan and Gok Wan and the I’m a celebrity rejects they have on there.

popsadaisy · 21/02/2019 19:42

@Megan2018 ohhh I'd love to get the goss about all of the celebs! Is there anymore people that are particularly nice or arses that we'd be surprised about? My friends fiancé is a camera man and she was telling me what an arsehole Phillip Schofield was 😱 I was so shocked and pretty gutted tbh!

newnameforthis7 · 21/02/2019 19:45

YANBU to dislike him. But YABU to start a disparaging spiteful thread about him.

What's he ever done to you? Confused

popsadaisy · 21/02/2019 19:46

@SinglePringle are PS and HW nice people? Like I've just said in a previous post I've heard PS is rude and arrogant! I bloody hope HW isn't it would ruin my day 😭

longwayoff · 21/02/2019 19:46

O for the days of Richard and Judy. Gormless Richard and exasperated Judy. So cosy.

SpongeBobJudgeyPants · 21/02/2019 19:49

I find he comes across as unpleasant, and not very bright tbh. Worse for me though is when he perves over young female guests. I'm surprised he gets away with it in this day and age.

Bubba1234 · 21/02/2019 19:52

I think he is funny but I just get the Northern humor anything they say is not in malice even if it sounds like it

Cinderella2019 · 21/02/2019 19:56

I like him 🤷🏻‍♀️

Deadringer · 21/02/2019 20:06

I always thought it was just banter but they were on catchphrase a while back and he kept putting her down it was awful. Having said that I get the impression that she is the boss in that relationship and he is just getting digs in when he can. Pathetic really.

IamTheMeg · 21/02/2019 20:19

I saw loose women too and thought that it seemed like he adored her. I wouldn't judge just by what you see on telly it may be a persona

Mary1935 · 21/02/2019 20:21

I find him so bloody insincere actually. He’s insincere with guests who have had trauma. I dislike the man.

TakemedowntoPotatoCity · 21/02/2019 20:23

What does Ruth see in him? Seriously punching above his weight!

FredaFox · 21/02/2019 20:25

Hey mum detests him for his rudeness to Ruth and for always stuffing his face on this morning rather than having a polite taste of things.

Whoever neantioned Anthony Cotton; he's absolutely awful. Vile man. Very rude and diva like. He's not well liked at Corrie I believe.
I've seen him be rude to his dad in Manchester

SimoneStrasser · 21/02/2019 20:39

I like Eamomn , I’ll take him any day over that smarmy twat Schofield who’d eat himself if he could.

A few months ago there was a feature on TM with a woman who very firmly believed she was engaged to a ghost, Eamonn was very very polite and gentle with her which Schofield probably wouldn’t have been.

He does piss take with Ruth but I’m guessing she’s happy with his humour and she doesn’t strike me as a soft touch.

liverbird10 · 21/02/2019 21:30

He's a fat unpleasant c*.

Worse than that, he supports Man Utd.

Grounds for shooting on sight, I reckon!

RomanyQueen1 · 21/02/2019 21:43

Well, would you expect him to support some little local team?
Don't be silly, people from all over the place glory hunt for United, they make themselves look such cunts against the locals that support and attend.

Janecon · 21/02/2019 22:28

He is a journalist by training - I knew him at college. He may have changed, but as I said earlier, when I knew him he was a genuinely nice, very warm person.
