Name changed as outing.

We have saved so hard for this new bathroom. We have reconfigured it and had everything new. Stripped to bare brick.

I really don't like it :-(

We still want to put a shelf up behind the toilet with some nice things on, and a towel storer where 3 towels will be rolled up at once in there.

Please be honest. Be as brutal as needed. I want to change the paint I think but no idea what to. We need to get a blind. What else can I do to make this the dream bathroom I envisaged Blush

Current wall shade is bad. I would not add any bright or contrasting colour. I’d paint it a very pale grey and get a big plant to sit on the floor - a palm type of thing.

I’d add a picture shelf with 3 small succulents, you can get lovely Dutch style plant pots that are all different but match, iyswim and add a nice print. But nothing whimsical about bathrooms. Or is it just me that hates that sort of shite?

I hate blinds, so would have shutters instead.

strangerthongs · 20/02/2019 18:20

Is this a stealth boast because I think it looks great....

A bit of colour maybe, - a blind and towels in matching colours?

UnperfectLife · 20/02/2019 18:21

ooooh i'd love a bathroom like that. I would paint it quite a strong colour, a deep dark blue probably, although I know from experience, specialist bathroom paint generally comes in wishy washy pastels

pregnantforever · 20/02/2019 18:22

I think once a nice blind is up, that will make the biggest difference

Tinkobell · 20/02/2019 18:23

Personally, I think your tiles are dull. Sorry but I do. Nothing wrong with the sanitary ware. However, you can't change them due to the cost. I'd buy a MASSIVE piece of colourful artwork for the wall. A real big statement piece. Then match your towels etc. Something with a warm cranberry shade perhaps?

Beach11 · 20/02/2019 18:23

Personally I think the floor is too dark and it needs some colour. Could you have a feature wall? And colour coordinated towels etc?

Looks very nice

Missmarplesknitting · 20/02/2019 18:24

It needs making more homely.

Paint the walls because the magnolia is not helping. A light grey will go with loads of accent colours.

Get a bright blind, funky towels and accessories and add a plant in there too. Orchids love a bathroom.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 20/02/2019 18:24

It's lovely.
I like the floor but the walls are too cream with grey tiles.
Colourful blind, and a tall thin (fake if need be) plant left corner of Bath.
Nice towels and some stunt toiletries.

Tomtontom · 20/02/2019 18:25

It's soulless. I like the idea of orange accessories and a plant. Also you've skimped on the tiling, it looks like you've run out of money or got bored.

I can see the look that you're going for, very showroomy, and you've achieved that. But in reality you want something warmer and more liveable.

maddiemookins16mum · 20/02/2019 18:27

I like it. It just needs a bold colour to make it stand out.

LKRJM · 20/02/2019 18:29

Love all the appliances, I think the floor should be lighter and the walls darker (colour?) but that’s my personal preference! It’s a really nice bathroom and with some colour and bits in it will be lovely! X

thinkfast · 20/02/2019 18:29

You need something on the wall behind the loo/bath. Maybe a painting for some colour?

You mentioned you're getting a shelf above the loo? It needs to be something quite dramatic but stylish I think - maybe granite or marble?

Bluffinwithmymuffin · 20/02/2019 18:29

I think it’s lovely, just needs a blind as you said; otherwise it looks clean and chic and beautifully uncluttered - exactly how I’d like my own messy bathroom to look tbh

CoolJule43 · 20/02/2019 18:29

It's ok but very bland and looks a bit like a developer has done it up as frugally as possible. I presume you want your new bathroom to wow.

  1. Tiling - is impractical and looks like you can't afford to tile it. Where are the tiles around the sink? The wall will be getting splashed all the time. I would either fully or at least half tile it so walls don't get wet with condensation.
  2. I don't like the tile colour - very insipid.
  3. Tiles and paint look awful together.
  4. Wall colour totally bland.
  5. Bathroom door and floor colours aren't good together.
  6. Needs window blind. I'd have a colour to go with towels and bath mat.
  7. Towel radiator looks crammed between door and sink. Is this the only source of heat? Is the output high enough for size of room?
  8. Looks a bit gloomy so are spotlights halogen or LED? Change for LED if not already. (Could just be photo though).

If you are strapped for cash then best thing to do is repaint in a colour that will go with tiles and add tiling above sink. It needs to be brighter or fresher looking. Add a blind, towels and nice toiletries.

PrismGuile · 20/02/2019 18:30

The pink is old fashioned - paint the walls green and you're grand

smartipants · 20/02/2019 18:32

You need some colour! Be brave OP, paint it a fairly dark shade and it will look so much more dramatic, the white of the bath, sink, toilet etc will pop against a contrasting shade. I painted my much smaller bathroom quite a dark grey, I was scared at first, but am very pleased I did.

Decormad38 · 20/02/2019 18:34

Personally for me its too plain. Its been well fitted but not designed e.g little thought to colour and contrast.

RB68 · 20/02/2019 18:35

I like the look of the green plant so I would perhaps add some similar green in towels, mats and maybe a blind for the window (could go patterned with green int he pattern if plain isn't your thing.

I would maybe have a few plants and battery candles for a bit of atmosphere. You could keep the cream walls of go for a colour - I like a soft green in a bathroom but you could go with a stronger neutral

longearedbat · 20/02/2019 18:35

Personally I think it need more tiles and a pale coloured floor, also the wall colour looks a bit pink to me. Sorry, but you did ask! I appreciate you probably don't want more expense, so a window covering of some sort, some pics, plants and accessories may help.

Disfordarkchocolate · 20/02/2019 18:36

I like the amount of tiling you have, it gives you the option to change the room when you want to. Dulux Parrot Green 5 or Willow Green would both be lovely with some soft mauve towels.

Thesnobbymiddleclassone · 20/02/2019 18:36

It's just a little bare

A blind with matching colour towels will add a pop of colour and will make it different.

Also once you've used it a bit, it'll look less showroom which may help.

Honeyroar · 20/02/2019 18:37

I think it’s almost lovely. Stop panicking- you may find it’s enough to just add in a large plant in the corner, towels and a blind. It might totally change the look. I don’t think that the colour looks that bad, but it would look fantastic with a charcoal grey on the walls and white towels and accessories, including a white plantation blind at the window.

But generally speaking, stop worrying. It’s a gorgeous bathroom.

BettyWoo · 20/02/2019 18:38

I really like it, it just needs a few accessories, maybe a plant on the window sill or a picture on the wall.

madeyemoodysmum · 20/02/2019 18:39

Yes colour. It’s very bland otherwise. Get some really cool pictures in there. Nice bright towel and bath mat

Juicyfrooty · 20/02/2019 18:39

I think you need a cooler toned paint to go with the tiles and white fittings. I'd go for a darker grey colour.

The actual bathroom fitting themselves look fine and it looks like it's been installed well.
