Twat face next door

I suspect I am bu but I’m raging lol.

6 months ago our lovely neighbour moved onto a retirement home. He sold his house to a family. A week after they moved in the woman drove into my wall and knocked a concreate post over. She didn’t come and tell me just proped it up against the wall. I went to ask what happened, she apologised and said she’s not used to such a narrow drive and will get DH to fix. I said fair enough but please come tell me as children walk in the wall (mine and others in the street) and it will be dangerous if the pillar is loose and we don’t know. 6 months later still not fixed even though we’ve reminded the husband a few times.

3x a week young son (year 6) is driven home by a friends parents. Mother is never home on time. He’s left knocking on the door. Sometimes in the rain. I politely said I don’t think your mums home yet, he called me a bitch. I mentioned this to mum when I saw her last week. She laughed and got in her car.

They regularly park in front of our drive then make out like it’s hardest job in the world to move the car.

5 days ago a parcel was delivered for next door. I didn’t really want to take it but I thought I was being petty so I signed for it. The driver left a note. 2 days later they hadn’t collected so I knocked on the door. Husband was in but wouldn’t answer (saw car arrive, curtains twitching etc). After 4 days I posted a note saying please come collect parcel as it’s been 4 days. It’s a large parcel and I’m fed up of seeing it. Today (day 5) I see a sky van pull up for next door, they are in and still not collected parcel. So I went round and knocked. No answer. I asked sky man to take the parcel in but he refused saying he was going up the ladder.

Wtaf? I’m so pissed off. Aibu to fix the wall and send the bill, throw the parcel over the gate and post dog shit though her letterbox? (obvs last is a joke) Grin

I'd just throw the thing in the bin.

justilou1 · 19/02/2019 12:08

Do they park on your driveway at regular intervals? Place the parcel on your driveway when you know this is likely so they either a) see it and take it away, or b) drive over the bloody thing.

justilou1 · 19/02/2019 12:10

Leave them a note informing them that as they have not collected their parcel, it is in their wheelie bin (with supportive photographic evidence). Make sure to do this the morning said wheeling bins are collected by council.

Juells · 19/02/2019 12:10

Cut the parcel in two and leave it next to the broken wall

Haha best suggestion yet.

Or lift up the concrete post, place parcel under it, and drop it hard on the parcel.

Worldweary · 19/02/2019 12:11

It's great to know that someone else calls their neighbour Twat. Ours is called Baldy Twat.

CandyFlossLegend · 19/02/2019 12:15

I'd ring the sender. Explain you signed and they won't collect. They're probably going to seek refund from seller and then collect package from you.

If she's leaving her delinquent son minor home alone regularly, you really should contact SS. It is a concern. Wink

LiftedHigh · 19/02/2019 12:23

I feel these replies are overlooking the obvious. She hit your post with her car. CLAIM IT AGAINST HER CAR INSURANCE.

www.mib.org.uk/check-insurance-details/ is a good start point, then call her insurers and give the details of your claim against her - She hit your wall and your want them to arrange the repair and cover the costs.

pigsDOfly · 19/02/2019 12:27

Agree with CandyFlossLegend, let the sender know that your neighbour has refused to collect it from you and tell them to come and pick it up. Then put it in your garage or shed and forget about it.

Also you'll wait till hell freezes over before they fix the wall. Claim it on your house insurance. Very annoying, but they sound awful so no point in trying to get any sense out of them.

emilybrontescorsett · 19/02/2019 12:29

If go with hiding the parcel from view and wait until they call round to collect it.
Ring the company too and advise them that neighbours are refusing to take it so that came claim it hasn't arrived.
Check your house insurance to see of your wall is covered, if so give them all the details.
If not Get a quote for your wall. Copy it and post a copy through next doors letter box give them a set time to sort it.
If they don't get your wall done then send them the bill.
Tell them to move their car every time they park across your drive.
Can you park so as it make it difficult for them to park across it?

SirVixofVixHall · 19/02/2019 12:29

Yes, car insurance for the wall.
Ignore horrible boy.
Dump parcel on their doorstep, preferably in the rain.
Refuse to take in any further parcels.

I sympathise op. Horrible neighbours are so stressful.

IvanaPee · 19/02/2019 12:30

I would call around and bring a note in case they don’t answer the door.

The note would say “I’m returning the parcel to X Company tomorrow just FYI. Also, since there seems to be a problem worm fixing the wall, I’ll be claiming for it just need your car reg number which I have. :) “

importantkath · 19/02/2019 12:32

Ugh. Twats.

Claim against her car insurance and throw the parcel over the garden fence.

Once claim is done, ignore.

TheresACatInMyLaundryBasket · 19/02/2019 12:32

Agree- put a note through with 24 hours notice to collect parcel and then return to sender. Don't take any more in, ever.
Then smile at them sweetly in the street but never engage.

SaturdayNext · 19/02/2019 12:33

Put a note through the door saying that if they haven't collected the parcel by tomorrow morning you will be returning it. Then do it.

Tighnabruaich · 19/02/2019 12:35

Shout through the letterbox about the parcel if they're not opening the door to you.

CandyFlossLegend · 19/02/2019 12:40

The details are on her car insurance disc. The next time she parks over your drive, take a picture of the disc and claim for your wall.

Jaxhog · 19/02/2019 12:43

Don't leave the parcel on their doorstep, as they'll just complain that it's your fault it 'went missing'. Send it back as uncollected.

Get a quote for the gatepost, and post it with note as suggested. Then fix it.

SpanielEars070 · 19/02/2019 12:45

Don't dump the parcel if you signed for it, as you can be held responsible.

Return to sender, it's far easier.

As for the concrete post, I'd claim on her car insurance. They've had long enough.

Pigflewpast · 19/02/2019 12:51

Candy what’s a car insurance disc? I’m guessing you’re not in the UK?

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/02/2019 12:52

Ours is called Baldy Twat.

Our ex-neighbour was "Fat Twat"!

They're breeding!

duckthisshit · 19/02/2019 12:55

How strange..leave the parcel on their doorstep and don't accept anymore in the future.

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/02/2019 12:57

Don't dump the parcel if you signed for it, as you can be held responsible.

Return to sender, it's far easier.

Won't it cost OP to return it?

I think opening it, finding who it is from and contacting them to say that the neighbour refuses to accept it, and can they send a returns label would be the best way to go.

Twatty neighbours are a bloody nightmare.

Juells · 19/02/2019 12:58

Pigflewpast
Candy what’s a car insurance disc? I’m guessing you’re not in the UK?

She's probable in Ireland. We have to have Insurance, NCT (MOT equiv) and tax disc on our windscreens.

Purplecatshopaholic · 19/02/2019 12:59

Why cant people just be nice??

Juells · 19/02/2019 13:00

I think opening it, finding who it is from and contacting them to say that the neighbour refuses to accept it, and can they send a returns label would be the best way to go.

...and if they finally call for it in the meantime, claim it's already been returned. I wouldn't let them have it under any circumstances, at this stage. Fuck 'em.
