to think it should be ok to post on Brexit outside the Brexit forum?

Whenever anyone posts anything about Brexit, there is a cry of "there is a brexit forum". Strangely you never hear it about 99% of the other threads in here which could be moved somewhere else (Style and Beauty, Baby Names, relationships, books, etc).

I could have understood the objection to posting on Brexit elsewhere maybe 12 months ago, but we are in the midst of arguably the biggest political crises in a generation, and perhaps longer, which enormous ramifications, whether you support or oppose Brexit.

People can make a decision which threads they read if they want to, as Brexit threads are hardly well disguised.

So, AIBU?

And so it begins ...

GhostofFrankGrimes · 18/02/2019 09:36

Or they could just be fed up of the doomsayers professing to have more information than anyone else.

Yes, lets ignore the governments own impact assessments, the CBI, businesses etc. How dare they use their expertise and insight to project the likely outcome of Brexit.

Let also ignore the jobs that have already been lost - e.g financial services moving out of London to Dublin and Frankfurt.

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 18/02/2019 09:37

I agree with valley

The closer it gets and the more new information comes out the more important i think it is that it gets a wider audience

(I say new, some people have been saying it for ages)

Rufusthebewilderedreindeer · 18/02/2019 09:38

bellini

It was nearly on page 2 before it started

Thats better than usual isnt it?

BoneyBackJefferson · 18/02/2019 09:41

CBA.

Same shit
different day.

I see it, and it's unfortunate and not the intention of this thread, but again, there is a strange double standard when it comes to Brexit threads.

AIBU is known for its "robust" approach to discussion, so would we expect Brexit to be any different? "Oh my god, someone on AIBU said something a bit unkind to another poster!!".

Yanbu and by 10. Am for moving

surferjet · 18/02/2019 09:48

Fucking hell not this again

Hmm

Still, it must have piqued your interest as you've posted on it.

I used to post ALOT on the brexit board, I still occasionally have a look, but it’s same shit different day, mostly hysterical scaremongering which I’m totally bored stiff of.
Boards get hidden for a reason!

Plus not sure what you’re hoping to gain from posting outside of your designated board?
Are you on a recruitment drive?
Trying to get a few new recruits to write to their MP? 😂
Give up FGS.

MuseumofInnocence · 18/02/2019 10:06

Why do you have a fixation with "designated boards"? When was the last time you asked someone to move a thread that wasn't about Brexit?

It’s a lot not alot.

ilovesooty · 18/02/2019 10:19

It's too important to be hidden.
Strangely it's usually leavers who want it hidden.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 18/02/2019 10:20

I did wonder if that would be the case.

JacquesHammer · 18/02/2019 10:24

Boards get hidden for a reason!

So hide the post. Or ignore it.

It really is very unfortunate for all those who don't want to debate Brexit that they're literally forced to open and respond to threads. That must get tiresome for you.

I can't see anyone that wants it "hidden" unless the term is being redefined.

surferjet · 18/02/2019 10:45

Who wants it hidden?
No one.
Just post in the correct area!

JellyBook · 18/02/2019 10:50

I agree ^

This just smacks of ‘you must listen to what interesting things I have to say on this subject even if it doesn’t interest you’

A bit like performance parenting.

JacquesHammer · 18/02/2019 10:51

Just post in the correct area!

There are - on a very rough glance - at least 8 threads on AIBU that should be on specific boards.

Have you been and told them?

JacquesHammer · 18/02/2019 10:53

Just don't read posts that don't interest you. I mean seriously, you'd think it wouldn't be difficult. Nobody can possibly make you listen to anything you don't want to. It is an internet forum, you choose which posts to open and read.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 18/02/2019 10:57

What about the people who post in AIBU wanting medical advice because there’s more traffic or those who want to know what Tenerife is like at this time of year because they’ll get more replies?

Nobody seems to tell them to post in the appropriate section.

JellyBook · 18/02/2019 11:04

Hmm

I mean this particular thread actually. Usually I happily go around ignoring stuff, but this is asking the specific question; why should brexit stuff be posted in the brexit topic.

badlydrawnperson · 18/02/2019 11:05

How in the name of fuck do you work that out, please?

bellinisurge · 18/02/2019 11:08

Some of the frequent flyers on here who say they hate Brexit threads have posted Leave supporting posts.

JacquesHammer · 18/02/2019 11:08

Well it depends, if you’re taking the position that everything should be posted in the correct board, then great.

Funnily enough it only seems to be on Brexit threads that people come on to post “there’s a board for that”.
