I took care of my Mom who had dementia. In the final stages she was almost always in pain “all over”; also she became extremely anxious and was hostile to me to the point of combativeness when I would try to clean her up after incontinence, etc. since she was no longer capable of understanding why I had to do it.
As OTC meds recommended by her doctors for pain were no longer helping and I didn’t want to go with suggested prescriptions because of worries about side effects/adverse reactions/oversedation (retired nurse so had some basis for my thinking), I decided to try CBD.
The difference was like day and night.
She no longer said she was in pain and I could actually have a conversation with her while cleaning her up instead of dodging punches, attempted bites etc.
Given the degree of her dementia I really doubt if placebo effect was a factor, so I’m sold!
Agree with pp to be careful about the source; I’m in the US of A so won’t mention specific vendors (laws here vary from state to state). One thing to check is the actual concentration of CBD in the oil. There are some places that market plain hemp oil as “hemp oil/CBD” which contains very little actual CBD.
Vaping wasn’t an option so I gave it sublingually which is usually better absorbed than orally, so that might be an option for you if you don’t want to bother with vaping.
I don’t have a need for it but took a hefty dose once and felt very relaxed. One of my sisters uses it for sleep and has found it very helpful. It works best when taken on a regimen as opposed to “as needed”.
Only downside as far as I can see: not cheap!
Sorry for lengthy (first) post — will have to work on that!
