Aaaaaa so close! Don't worry first time I took the theory test I didn't even make it in the door as I got lost and couldn't find the test centre! Have your breakfast - you'll get it next time.

Mugglywuggly · 16/02/2019 09:19

Oh dear. If it’s any consolation I failed mine 4 times before finally passing! And this was 10 years ago, so before hazard perception was around!! I’m pretty sure I would never pass it now!!!

JenMumma · 16/02/2019 09:20

Ha ha aww that's sweet ! Thanks :-) I think half the battle is showing up lol. I've ordered it, screw it. Atleast fried food won't let me down lol

Omg 4 times ! I'm hoping to re take within a month if that's realistic, i studied so bloody hard , what a waste of money x

I passed mine first attempt by the skin of my teeth. My driving test... 5 bloody times I took that thing. I passed the day before my theory expired. Keep going. Enjoy your breakfast.

ATowelAndAPotato · 16/02/2019 09:23

You did well on the hazard perception and that’s bloody hard. I have a sibling in the police and their whole team had to take the hazard perception when it was introduced and they all failed multiple times - these are advanced drivers - because they were spotting all the hazards so early!!

DontTouchTheMoustache · 16/02/2019 09:23

You barely failed, and you passed the hazard perception part which most people find the most difficult. Do you have an app to practice with? I just spent all my free time answering questions on there before mine

JenMumma · 16/02/2019 09:24

I only just found out you can have driving lessons WITHOUT having passed your theory test so my studying obviously wasn't very comprehensive 🙄🙄

JenMumma · 16/02/2019 09:25

I've got the DVSA app but I uninstalled it in the lift in a temper.... hmm maybe I shouldn't be driving after all 😂🙄

Your theory test is only valid for a certain length of time, so if you haven't started lessons yet it might be worth thinking about getting started on those before you sit your theory again. Last thing you want is to pass but have to resit because it expires before you're ready to do your practical test! With a bit of driving experience behind you you should find things like signs and markings a bit easier as well :)

Enjoy your breakfast! Very jealous...

JenMumma · 16/02/2019 09:34

Good point spam 🤔 and thank you, I'll have an extra sausage for you (make of that what you will ) 😂 x

TheInvestigator · 16/02/2019 09:35

You shouldn't sit your theory test until your almost ready to sit your practical, incase you end up taking months and months to be ready for the practical.

Start your lessons and go back to the theory test when your intruator tells you you're ready for the practical.

PentreBachCymraeg · 16/02/2019 09:36

Aah bad luck and keep trying 👍 i want to see a pic of your breakfast now Wink

TheInvestigator · 16/02/2019 09:36

*you're almost ready

gamerchick · 16/02/2019 09:40

You haven't started lessons yet?

Start your lessons, do theory later but keep practicing the mock tests.

Marmaladehandbag · 16/02/2019 09:44

If it makes you feel better, I passed the theory test first time twice and passed really well on the hazard perception (twice because my first pass expired by the time I took lessons) I also passed my practical first time (not as well though, a fair number of minors).

You would think I would have been confident driving, but after driving for a few months and having a few minor issues (no accidents). I developed a phobia and still two years later barely drive! That is what I call a fail!!

I wish I didn't pass first time!

Purplecatshopaholic · 16/02/2019 09:45

Aww, never mind, you will get it next time!

Crappywife · 16/02/2019 09:45

I studied really hard the theory side of car learning hoping to pass my theory before I started lessons. I never took the test as I wasn’t ready but once I started lessons the theory side made more sense.
You’ve done so well and only failed by the skin of your teeth so I’d imagine a few hours practical driving you’d smash the theory.
Enjoy your breakfast you deserve it Smile

Booksandpens · 16/02/2019 09:50

After 6 months of lessons, I took and passed my theory test, but only just. I then took over 2 years to actually be ready to take the practical, so had to redo my theory, and scored so much better, especially with the hazard perception test. So yes, driving lessons should really help make the test easier.

Wallsbangers · 16/02/2019 09:50

You'll get it next time! Lessons helped put the road questions in context so that will help.

I scraped through first time on my theory which is good because the hazard perception gave me terrible motion sickness and I nearly vommed in the test centre

pigsDOfly · 16/02/2019 09:52

I can't imagine how anyone can pass their theory test if they've never even been behind the wheel of a car.

Get some driving under your belt and as pp said, take your theory test when you're closer to taking your practical.

The theory test didn't exist when I passed my test but I did several of the practice tests when my DDs were doing theirs. I think it's harder than the practical tbh.

ShowOfHands · 16/02/2019 09:55

Start lessons! The theory will make so much more sense with a practical application and your instructor should help you with both. I booked lessons and did my theory test 4 weeks after starting and it was a breeze. Had my practical test 3 weeks after the theory. It was a stressful 7 weeks!

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 16/02/2019 09:59

My DCs had a phone app which really helped with the theory. But as others have said get cracking on practical lessons before resitting theory

SundayShawl · 16/02/2019 09:59

I had 4-5 months of lessons before I took my theory test. My instructor covered the theory side as part of the lessons and told me when he thought I was ready to take the test.

He alway said with the hazard perception to do 3 clicks. It's not enough to trigger the 'you're clicking at random' thing but it means if you see the hazard 'too early' the 2nd or 3rd click will be on time.

Enjoy your breakfast OP Brew
