It doesn’t seem to matter how careful
I am or what brand I go for, if I am lucky there isn’t a ladder by the end of the day, but there always is by day two. Is it just me or do you find that as well?

Mine can last years.. how thin are you buying them?

thecatsthecats · 13/02/2019 12:23

I find the super stretchy ones to be the best, the ones that are LONG.

I have never found a pair, no matter how expensive, that didn't suck if they were too short in the leg - being skintight seemed to be the killer.

I need them to come up to the waist and not be snug on the legs, because it's when they're the wrong elasticity that they snag etc. I don't understand how the ones that only come up to your bum are ever supposed to function. However big or small they are, they just fall down.

MeredithGrey1 · 13/02/2019 12:25

Mine can last years

What sort of witchcraft is this??

I agree OP, with nude tights they ladder so so quickly. Thicker black tights that I wear in winter do usually last the whole winter, but I get through nude tights at a ridiculous rate.

hula008 · 13/02/2019 12:25

Snag tights are amazing.

goodnessidontknow · 13/02/2019 12:25

Try Snags tights 😀 I'm usually the same but getting a pair that actually fit makes all the difference. My current pair have been worn at least a dozen times.

Stompythedinosaur · 13/02/2019 12:26

Try Snag Tights. They have been a total game changer for me.

JasperKarat · 13/02/2019 12:26

I rarely ladder tights even when I catch them, but tend to wear 70-100 denier or wooly ones, how thin are the tights you're buying?

Stompythedinosaur · 13/02/2019 12:26

Oops, cross posted with some other Snag Tights fans!

icelolly99 · 13/02/2019 12:28

Recently discovered thermal tights are much more hardwearing and if they get a hole (careless teenager...) they don't ladder and can be repaired. Another tip is to buy largest possible no matter your size.

HippyChickMama · 13/02/2019 12:29

If you're wearing fine tights, 10 denier etc, spray them all over with hairspray a few minutes before putting them on. It sounds weird but it does help to prevent laddering.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 13/02/2019 12:34

I've got a pair of Wolfords which I have been wearing for 20 years. They were cheap in a sale when I was mid teens and I am still able to get in them if I need to.

Crustaceans · 13/02/2019 12:37

The M&S 100 denier ones don’t seem to ladder easily.

Personally I find that it’s the bloody toes that give out in tights. Almost immediately. Why don’t they put the seam where it is on socks?

Londonmummy66 · 13/02/2019 12:42

I only wear black opaques these days and have found investing in more expensive pairs works - I buy the M&S autograph ones and whilst they cost a lot they usually last a whole season. Having said that I need to buy XL as I have long legs (and keep them away from my teenagers who would deliberately shred them).

Seline · 13/02/2019 12:43

Mine always ladder!

OhDiddums · 13/02/2019 12:45

Mine seem to ladder less often if I buy them bigger. Probably only a small or medium but I buy a large and they're a better fit.

drspouse · 13/02/2019 12:47

Another vote for Snag tights, or Falke opaque but they are ££££ or also probably €€€€€ so even more these days.

peachgreen · 13/02/2019 12:49

Yep, Snag. They last forever.

TestingTestingWonTooFree · 13/02/2019 12:50

I wear think opaques which last. Even the Primark ones (as long as they’re expensive for Primark).

Nude tights are not so good but I’d expect a couple of wears/hand washes out of them.

babysharkah · 13/02/2019 13:00

opaques can last a few years for me, 10 or 20 denier last a wear, max!

MrsFionaCharming · 13/02/2019 13:07

Snag Tights have existed for less than 2 years, curious how people can rave that they ‘last forever’. They are also meant to be hand washed, and gently squeezed dry, I imagine most tights would last a long time treated like that.

(Cynical that I just saw an advert on Facebook, then immediately saw this thread that looks like a rather convenient publicity post...)

HappyPunky · 13/02/2019 13:10

Put them in the freezer overnight before you open them and in a plastic bag. It doesn't prevent laddering completely but helps.

ImBattlingOn · 13/02/2019 13:15

Hi there, Snag PR!

Crustaceans · 13/02/2019 13:32

Is putting on frozen tights not a bit unpleasant?

peachgreen · 13/02/2019 13:46

I'm not Snag PR, honest! Although I do rave about them a lot but as a plus size woman, finding tights that genuinely fit comfortably, stay up and song ladder is a miracle. And I wash mine in the machine with everything else AND tumble dry them (because I'm lazy) and they've still lasted. My oldest pairs are almost 18 months old.

Crustaceans · 13/02/2019 13:52

It’s only with tights that anyone would be impressed that the oldest pairs had lasted a whole 18 months. Tights are rubbish.
