Seriously AIBU I'd heard quiet whispers about hot flushes, seen secret nods about forgetfulness even probably raised my own once lovely often overplucked brows at the idiosyncrasies of older women I knew but why didn't any tell me about this? I can't leave the house until I've reapplied my bloody eyebrows between the bald patches and the white ones they've all but disappeared! My hair has hardly any grey, I'm fighting the weight gain, coping with the night sweats but for the love of God I need eyebrows.

My eyebrows are getting increasingly bushy and luxuriant, as are the plentiful hairs on my chin, and neck. Hair on head rather less so, sadly. It used to be described as fine and thick by my hairdresser, now just fine... And I have little hairy troll feet. Loving the late 50s!

PhilomenaButterfly · 13/02/2019 13:58

I still have my eyebrows, not sure if I'm perimenopausal as I have an implant, but my fanjo, armpits and legs are going bald.

TheWashingMachine · 13/02/2019 13:58

You win thread of the month with this title, I have all these joys to come but my neighbour informs me thin skin is the worst as it breaks easily and you get weird red bruises and sex is painful because of thin skin. My eyebrows do seem to be getting lighter though and I'm only 43.

Threewheeler1 · 13/02/2019 13:58

Judas
Don't worry, I've had my boys on whisker-watch for a while now.
They're a bit rubbish at it though, don't think their hearts are really in it Grin
And yes, 5foot5 I can barely see the whiskers even with specs and the magnifying mirror. I can feel them but they hide when I whip the tweezers out. Some are white, some are black so it's a very distinguished salt and pepper beard/ moustache combo.
I'm always stroking my chin(s), feeling for sneaky ones and they pop up daily, usually when I'm out.

Have you tried when removing hairs to put on your strongest glasses combined with your best magnifying mirror just to see the buggers, and then just focus on your wrinkles magnified into the extreme?
Yes! Life is much better without magnifying mirrors (and specs and daylight).

LemsipLemsipLemsip · 13/02/2019 14:04

I’ve read this with an increasingly sinking feeling in my stomach as I realise this explains much of what is happening to me. I’ve just turned 40, I was a perky 18 year old only 5 minutes ago!

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 13/02/2019 14:07

I'm not sure I'm up to the shock. And horror.

weeps menopausal tears into menopausal moustache and beard

Iamdanish · 13/02/2019 14:10

On the other hand, I am pretty sure mine is the perfect vision,
I can't see: wrinkles, dust, dirt even bugs in salads without specs. 😁

PentreBachCymraeg · 13/02/2019 14:14

Some of the comments on here have made me laugh out loud. My eyebrows have managed to lighten themselves. I brushed mascara lightly over my eyebrows before trotting off to a job interview. I've come home to two twatty, black clouds sitting above my eyes.

🤡

Hello, my peeps! My eyebrows are thinning and half of one is grey so have trouble using the eyebrow pencil accurately (plus, long-sighted). Dying them lasts maybe a week before the greys are back. My chin hairs are also grey so while I can stroke them I can’t see them to pluck them. My pubes are migrating down my legs. I wish they were thinning like the hair on my head! Ugh! There’s nothing positive about my 50’s!

Frickssake · 13/02/2019 15:51

I've found my people! Chin hairs- WTF? And my energy levels have deserted me, whilst periods have gone haywire as have my moods!

Funnyface1 · 13/02/2019 16:09

I'm only 33 but have lost a lot of one eyebrow. Should I get my thyroid checked? Would they even take me seriously?

lljkk · 13/02/2019 16:12

Friend got her eyebrows tattooed on at age 49. She's very happy with the results.

Fazackerley · 13/02/2019 16:16

Can I recommend hrt, the Philips lumea and tinted eyebrow gel. You are welcome .

InfiniteSheldon · 13/02/2019 16:39

Thank You one and all for making me feel less alone but more importantly reminding me I no longer have to wax legs or arm pits as that hair has stopped growing, no periods is a plus obviously and I would second HRT artisanscotchegg don't let this ruin your life. The other plus is dh is six years older than me and can't see without his glasses or hear without his hearing aids and doesn't care what my chin or toes look like.

The Lumea is great until the hairs go white and wirey. Once the pigment goes it won't work. Then it's back to the tweezers.

Slaymill · 13/02/2019 17:01

@Fazackerley I was thinking of getting the Laura Mercier eye brow gel which one do you use ?

anothernamereally · 13/02/2019 17:02

All of this for me too Confused I'm only 40 and my youngest is under 2 Sad

Don't worry, started at 39/ 40 for me too.
I'll be 46 this year so I'm hoping I've only got a few more years to scratch off maniacally on my 'Peri-menopause is a bastard' wall...Grin

Member869894 · 13/02/2019 19:30

I have found my tribe!. My body is just.....weird... these days .

My eyebrows are so bushy that when I go to get them plucked they have to be cut with scissors first...

my pubes are migrating down my legs - and clustering on my big toes
wen I go to the optician he has to hold my eyelids up when I liook down.

My knees are fat

My thighs are like dough

when I am relaxing I am told to 'cheer up'

the list goes on and on.....

txtbreaker · 13/02/2019 19:35

Great title Smile

PentreBachCymraeg · 13/02/2019 23:34

@Member...All this winter my pubes have been plaited around my legs in spirals down to my ankles.

RastaPubes.

userschmoozer · 13/02/2019 23:44

I thought my new boots had rubbed away the hair on my shins.
And I found a 4" pube
