To tell you Dd has been selected to study separate sciences at GCSE

She is in yr 9 and at her school they start their gcse options in yr 9. They have to achieve a certain level of attainment and effort to be entered into separate sciences.

This is not a stealth boast it is an actual boast.

My dd is dyslexic and in year she couldn't read at all.

PROUD

Well done LEMlette! No wonder your mum is proud.

::highfives you:: Well done her!

Stopyourhavering64 · 12/02/2019 17:24

Congratulations to your daughter....no mean feat at all, you must both be very proud
My dd is also dyslexic ( and dyspraxic/ dyscalculic) and was told she'd only get a few GCSEs by SENCO at her first secondary school
We moved schools and she got 11 GCSEs A-C , then went on to get 4 A levels, an MA and MSc and is now better qualified than the head teacher at that first secondary school Grin

Congrats OP, my DS is dyslexic so I know how tough school work can be for a dyslexic child.

WhentheRabbitsWentWild · 12/02/2019 17:33

Well , OP , YANBU at all

Well done to your daughter.

Weathermonger · 12/02/2019 17:33

Congratulations to your daughter, and you have every right to boast. How lovely to read such a positive post.

WhatTheNightBrings · 12/02/2019 17:39

How fantastic - she must have worked very hard to get to where she is (As I'm sure you all have as a family to support her)

Our school system is different, though what do you mean by 'separate sciences'?

BernardsarenotalwaysSaints · 12/02/2019 17:40

Well done to your DD - that's fab.

TheoriginalLEM · 12/02/2019 20:23

Thank you so much - i am so proud of her . She is a lovely, kind and sensitive girl.

She actually told me once she is glad she is dyslexic that she just learns weirdly - at 13 weird is good apparently. HmmGrin

She reads voraciously although it has to either be about animals, dragons or harry potter. She conceptualizes really well which allows her to understand scientific principles.

We are lucky that her primary school refered her to an ed psych and her dyslexia was diagnosed officially in year 5. I had been telling them since year R! We were then fortunate enough to recieve a grant from a charitable trust that financed expert tuition and touch typing lessons. It made the all the difference and gave dd confidence.

All i can hope for is that her live of learning continues.

So lovely to read all the best wishes.
