Where would you hide a wallet? It's definitely in the house so no need to cancel cards but I've searched everywhere!!!!

It's not fun and pushing a week without it now.

My 2 year old just says "banana" when I ask Grin

Bin
I have found mine in there twice Confused

BeanTownNancy · 08/02/2019 10:55

My 2yo has just figured out how to open the freezer, so that's where things are going this week. Before that, it was the dishwasher or washing machine.

Confusedbeetle · 08/02/2019 10:55

Just dont throw out your rubbish bag, that is a favourite place. Anywhere you can POst things, back of radiators

Ifangyow · 08/02/2019 10:59

Under cushions on couches and chairs.
Under mattresses and pillows.
Under rugs and mats.
Down the back of furniture.
Inside some toys, such as play ovens etc.

Many years ago my husband's wallet went missing, causing a real panic as it had our only bank card, his military I.d card and cash in it. We searched everywhere, had a row, searched again, had another row. Eventually found it a day or so later posted in the slot of the video recorder by our then toddler son.

BarryTheKestrel · 08/02/2019 10:59

Wait until evening, turn the lights off and search the house methodically with a torch. The focus of light helps you see things you'd otherwise miss. I lost my keys on top of the bookcase (high out of the way of DD) for days and even though I must have seen them there when searching for them I didn't see them because they didn't look out of place.

Cath2907 · 08/02/2019 11:00

Out through the cat flap

amusedbush · 08/02/2019 11:00

Are there any spaces in the kitchen that things could be "posted"? Like the gap between the top of the washing machine and the worktop?

WitsEnding · 08/02/2019 11:03

When my favourite two year old says 'banana' he often means 'Moana' - does that make any sense?

Have found lots under divan beds in the past.

ShaftOfWit · 08/02/2019 11:03

Give toddler something else and suggest a game of hide and seek. Then watch where they go with it?
This. My toddler flatly refused to tell me where she's hidden my keys - but when I asked where she thought teddy would hide them, she led me straight to them Grin

Toooldtocareanymore · 08/02/2019 11:06

I second the shoes, as I once spent a summer using the spare car keys until I put on my winter boots again stored under my bed in a box and found my missing original car key with alarm fob, thanks dd, usually when keys went missing they were inside a toy truck or the like, if purse went missing Barbie had it , but dd was older than 2, and week is a long time they wont remember now, can you remember what day it was it went missing and what was being played with that day? once I mislaid one of those credit card folders with 5/6 cards in it located it after weeks inside a pirate ship, had checked toy box but not inside the toys- ds reply was pirates shop. I have a friend who's toddler used to put stuff down back of loo cistern or in two plant pots she had on bathroom windowsill when he got bored sitting on potty, maybe you should have a game of hide and seek with him give him something to hide , see where he picks to hide things might give you an idea and when playing you might come across it

flamingofridays · 08/02/2019 11:09

in the microwave of your toy kitchen of course!

Comenext · 08/02/2019 11:10

Probably low down somewhere. Under a piece of heavy furniture that does not get moved?
Use a coathanger or stick to swipe underneath all the furniture.
In a bin on the floor? Check all the waste bins before putting them out for collection.
In a doll's bed or a pet's bed?
Under a mat? Like a doormat or similar?
In the toilet cistern? Kids love toilets in my experience.

1400spincycle · 08/02/2019 11:13

reading all these carefully as I have lost my keys!

Scotinoz · 08/02/2019 11:14

My kids like putting things in bags (shopping bags, rucksacks, handbags etc) or the fridge 🙄

duckfortea · 08/02/2019 11:14

IT'S BEEN FOUND GrinGrin

Thanks all for your suggestions!

It was bloody DH!!! Not even joking... in his office amongst his paperwork out of reach for DS. I haven't been in there for a while and he has no recollection of putting it there (heard that before).

I feel awful for gently interrogating my toddler all week Blush

But did find a banana skin jammed in the letter box. Grim!!

DC4 once put my keys in the washing machine drawer, they were lost for ages and rusty as we always put the powder/liquid straight in the drum and DD once had £5 in her nappy unfortunately well before the plasticky fivers were a thing Hmm
Other favourite places were behind radiators, in the tiny gap between the dishwasher and the worktop,
in boots or shoes,
behind the fridge,
inside a toy bin lorry or other openable toy.

jobbymcginty · 08/02/2019 11:15

my ds like s to hide everything in his toy kitchen including my car keys

SauvingnonBlanketyBlanc · 08/02/2019 11:15

Bless him confessing to the letterbox!

AzureApps · 08/02/2019 11:22

AzureApps · 08/02/2019 11:23

3timeslucky · 08/02/2019 11:25

Fireplace, log box
Any kitchen drawer or cupboard
Any drawer anywhere

Any bag

3timeslucky · 08/02/2019 11:26

OOPS just noticed you've found it ... and the banana!

SoupDragon · 08/02/2019 11:26

It was bloody DH!

LOL! Typical! He is a total banana (which might be what your toddler was trying to convey)

Tinty · 08/02/2019 13:55

But did find a banana skin jammed in the letter box. Grim!! Are you sure that wasn't DH too? Grin

SaucyJack · 08/02/2019 13:57

Haha! In your son’s defence, he had clearly told you all about the banana.
