to be 100% certain that I am right and DD is wrong about being "on a sesh"?

She (17) is equally certain that the phrase for going on the piss is "We are at a sesh".

Apparently its because I am old (45!) and it has changed, I think its because she has misheard/misunderstood.

She wont accept what you say because "They are all old too!" but I just want some validation for myself :o

PS before anyone says it, she is almost 18, yes she does drink when at her friends parties and I am ok with that.

We have a sash.

FortunesFave · 06/02/2019 23:57

Well it could be either really. You call it "on a sesh" and she calls it "At a sesh"

Both work.

ElspethFlashman · 06/02/2019 23:58

Sorry but I think both are correct. As in "we had a sesh" is correct, so one could either be "on the sesh" or "at a sesh".

ForaSheepAsALamb · 06/02/2019 23:59

Never heard of it.

Pernickity1 · 07/02/2019 00:00

On a sesh for sure! I’m 32 if that makes a difference?! Grin

Calvinsmam · 07/02/2019 00:01

Definitely ‘on the sesh’

Past tense ‘had a sesh’

Same as going ‘on the lash’

Though I don’t think you could say you ‘had a lash’ as people would think you went for a wee.

DontBuyANewMumCashmere · 07/02/2019 00:01

I used to have a sesh, at uni.

Calvinsmam · 07/02/2019 00:03

Maybe it’s a regional thing.

I would say ‘on the sesh’ and I’m north east England.

icannotremember · 07/02/2019 00:03

Having a sesh.

WarpedGalaxy · 07/02/2019 00:04

We’re having/going to have a sesh.

At a/on a sesh both sound off to me but if I had to choose between them it would be ‘on’.*

*Disclaimer: I am old.

Sparrowlegs248 · 07/02/2019 00:06

At a sesh is wrong. You wouldn't go to a sesh.

CrispbuttyNo1 · 07/02/2019 00:06

Have a sesh/on a sesh would be my terminology. I’m 50 and still like to occasionally go on a sesh 😂

Sparrowlegs248 · 07/02/2019 00:06

I'd be more inclined to say "it was a bit of a sesh/turned into a sesh" etc..

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/02/2019 00:11

Well more people accept my version, so I am sticking with that! :o

Tbh its not a phrase I really use much, going on the piss, on the lash, on a bender would probably be more likely, if I ever did those things anymore which I dont because I am a complete lightweight! You know that person that absolutely insists on going home just as the party starts hotting up? Thats me :o

Dont get me wrong, I like a drink but I just dont seem capable of getting drunk anymore, my brain rebels and makes me stroppy and tired before I get wasted!

OP posts:
CockleburIck · 07/02/2019 00:23

I tend to “Go out for one or two drinks” myself.

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/02/2019 00:24

Good for you Hmm

OP posts:
EatingBreadAndHoney · 07/02/2019 00:25

Out on the lash.

EatingBreadAndHoney · 07/02/2019 00:26

I thought it's referred to as messy now?
Or am I so old I'm totally off beam? Grin

7Days · 07/02/2019 00:29

Im with Cockleburick just nip in for a quick one..
On a sesh, sounds better.

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/02/2019 00:30

I run a pub and the phrase often used by me and my (equally "old") staff is "It's X's birthday.....they're gonna get messy"...not sure if that is in the right context though! By messy we dont mean throwing up etc, but the usual suspects going home together then claiming they didnt have (yet another) ONS, the same old "he said/she said" arguments, the same people getting v v drunk v v quickly and then not being able to stand up straight or string 3 words together when they are refused service and probably hurting themselves on the way home..... Is that about right?

OP posts:
CockleburIck · 07/02/2019 00:31

Well it’s just that I’m old. I’d get laughed at if I tried some of that trendy terminology.

I did use to go out on the piss though, if that helps?

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/02/2019 00:40

Sorry cock, I misunderstood. Thought you were being all sanctimonious "Oh well I only have a drink or maybe two...." judgey, you know? Blush

Sorry again, had a bit of a crappy day and only finished work an hour ago!

OP posts:
Loftyswops988 · 07/02/2019 00:45

on the sesh for sure!

HumansCannotEverChangeSex · 07/02/2019 00:46

I think they say on the drink round my way. As in “Are you on the drink tonight lad?” Or out on the piss etc. I can’t be sure because I don’t drink and don’t go out with mates for a drink lol

PyongyangKipperbang · 07/02/2019 00:47

A lot of people say "on the piss", you dont say "at the piss" do you?!
