AIBU to pay £150 to a "sleep consultant " to try and get my 6 month old to sleep for longer than 45 minutes at night?

My dd is nearly 7 months, and is breast fed.

She completely refuses a bottle, i have tried loads of different ones, so my husband cant help with feeds. She wont have a dummy either.

In the day she only naps on me when feeding, or in the car.

At night she pretty much feeds every hour throughout the night, and isn't in a routine at all as she doesn't sleep long enough to go to bed at a normal time, so I just keep her downstairs with me and cuddle her all night till I go to bed Grin

I love all the cuddles, but I have other small children, and I'm knackered! Because she wont take a bottle, I cant even go out for a few hours ever

I have found a sleep consultant on the internet, but it seems very expensive! This is for 4 weeks of support though, and is done over facetime. It's all gentle techniques so no crying it out or anything.

Has anyone done similar? I'm not trying to get her to sleep through, just go longer than 45 minutes, and maybe get my evenings back!

OP I feel your pain- I could've written this myself! DD is six months, only sleeps for an hour at a time and refuses a bottle 😓.

How is it going with the sleep consultant? Considering this at the minute but I know DH will just think it's a waste of money 🙄

Ooh sounds very much like our situation. Currently debating a SC myself. Have you got one and how's it going??

Nope- money WELL spent. In 1 night and then me solo 3 days transformed our lives through sleep!!

I used one. I’d have paid triple what they charged. It was amazing. Recommend it to anyone,

It wasn’t advice I had ever hear before, it was really effective.

Mine cost £250. I used Millpond sleep clinic. Recommend it without question.

I honestly owe them my sanity.

We did and it was without doubt, the best money we ever spent. After 2 nights, slept through and it was bliss.

Do it. Best thing we did too. Are you going to do it?!

You poor thing! Do it! But also I think there’s a seperate issue here with the feeding. B fed or not a nearly 7 month of does not need to feed every hour. I know it's about comfort etc. but not wholly sure how much I believe that (I have a 8 month old ebf until 6.5 months). See if you can find a good (preferably free if you're paying for a sleep consultant) Breastfeeding consultant/support worker or breastfeeding cafe and get an opinion about the hourly nightfeeds as well.
