a vice. Mine used to be the booze, but I knocked that on the head when I found myself drinking up to two bottles of wine a night. Now it's shopping. I just love to shop,be it for food, stuff for the kids,make-up,clothes,shoes,household goods or anything else. I just get a buzz out of it. What's your vice? Is it something you worry could get out of hand, or do you see it as a simple pleasure that you deserve even if it might be bad for you and/or your bank balance?

Pulling my fingers through my hair at the back to get the tangles out - mild tichotillimania perhaps. It started when I became really ill. No bald patches.
Did go through a stage of picking and chewing hard skin on feet. Bite skin to side of nails but not badly. Mainly due to being chronically ill.

YANBU. Maybe not actually a vice in the true sense though! Just something I, like others, think I am a bit greedy about.
It is....... drum roll....
Asda's Curlys
or the ones in Lidl
they are bags of small "milky ways" but are far better than the original! I am a connoisseur! Currently Asda are ahead by a small margin.
I am looking for a recipe so I can make the malt nougat myself. This would preclude my having to bite off the chocolate before I settle down to the blissful rapture of that perfect balance of sweetness and salty caramel and absolutely amazing very slightly crumbly texture. ooooOOOoooohhhhhmmmmmaaaahhhh

robusttoday · 06/02/2019 19:26

mine used to be the nearly-2-bottles-a night-thing like you and now my vice is sleeping ! zzzz Much better! . well done in slowing down with the booze

Ellyess · 06/02/2019 19:27

"Curlies"??? maybe "Whirlies"?, Whatever! They're imitation small "Milky Ways"!!! But proper Milky Ways are no good at all. Best are the little Asda ones. Oooooo I will have to go and get some now.....

I've set myself a 'no spend 2019' on clothes, shoes, etc, so at least I've stopped shopping. I don't even open the emails that come into my phone. It's a fantastic feeling

Wine would be my first one, although I only buy the low cal/low alc stuff now and I notice a difference if I drink the full strength stuff at a restaurant. So that's a start to reducing.....

My second one is suffering from ''cabin fever'' when working from home. I become wound up/stressed with the same constant barking dogs, whereas if I worked away from home, I wouldn't notice them as much.

My third one is food shopping when we have more than enough food at home. The intention is to buy things only on my list, but then I will see ''good'' specials and bring those home too and there goes a couple of hundred. I must get into the click and collect habit!
