Any suggestions for museums (other than kelvin grove n rennie mackintosh?
Antiques centres or jewellery?
Spa break or day - wouldn’t mind recommendations for nails or beauty treatments
I really need to chill - help me please

Seconded the hunterian and west end, Ashton lane area in particular. Not sure of your days but the old fruit market has a great craft fair at the weekends. Pollok house I think is free at this time of year, and a good walk as welll. Botanic gardens and kibble palace. Loads!!! Have a great time.

@streetwisehercules They're closed indefinitely while they try and find £7m to repair. They'll leave them in that state to degrade further and then they'll tear them down. This is Glasgow City Council we're talking about. There's no way they're realistically going to try and save them. The city don't care or invest in the east end sustainably.”

I think thats fair comment re Labour, who ran the city for 50 years up until 18 months ago. And nicely of them they have left a £500 million bill for cheating women out of equal pay for decades. Great.

I think money will be found for the Winter Gardens. Eventually.

It won’t be demolished.

God I hope not. I would be interested in joining some sort of community effort, @letsghostdance, but other than people being individually upset about the closure, I haven't seen much happening - sounds like you're on it though, which is of some small comfort!

The necropolis is worth a wee walk through, don't know if they're still there, but last time I was up the deer were very much wandering about, and this in the middle of the city centre. Marvellous.

Ruthven Lane off Byres road has some interesting antique shops. All Starry Starry Night second hand clothes shop. Otago Lane has second hand book shops and good vinyl. You can wander up Otago st and round to Kelvinbridge past Glasgow Vintage. The walk along the river between Botanics and Kelvingrove is lovely and Kibble palace and Botanic Garden glass houses are good.

Another vote also for the spa at the Carrick. At this time of year you can sit in their outdoor hot tub looking at snowy mountains.

If you go to Provand's Lordship, be sure to go across the street and up the hill a wee bit to the Cathedral Precinct off Castle Street and near the Necropolis.

@maggieandhopey there's a friends of Glasgow green meeting tonight. Looking to have the community ready to act for when the council officially announce the demolishing rather than it just being shut in this weird limbo!

MaggieAndHopey · 04/02/2019 09:26

@letsghostdance I might try to get along to that - have had a look for the details online and on FB but can't find any, would you mind posting (or PMing if you prefer?) thanks!

MaggieAndHopey · 04/02/2019 09:28

oh, wait! I've found it. Green Depot off Greendykes St.

Biffsboys · 04/02/2019 09:35

@Butchyrestingface I have been to Summerlee many times, it's a great place to visit, only braved the mines once as it's a bit cramped in there!

It's my go to place for the kids that's free and has free parking and it has a great park, we're so lucky that we have lots of places that are free entry and free parking. I've been to various places south of the border and everything seems to cost and can't believe they charge to park everywhere!! Shock
