Not that I have a crack addiction. I have things to do and can’t tear myself away. Does anyone else think this?

I've been here on and off for 15 years. I genuinely believe that my mental health is better when I'm "off" but there are so many things I wouldn't know if I was never here.

I do wish it was possible to check in every now and again but, for me, it's not . I'm either here all day or have to go cold turkey.

Bumblebee39 · 02/02/2019 09:59

Yeah to be fair I think I'm addicted
I mean, it's also helped me give up smoking so actually I think I should be grateful
When I used to light up, now instead I'll have a MN break Grin

longtimelurkerhelen · 02/02/2019 10:02

@TrackerBar I don't know, never tried it either and really don't fancy it if the before and after pictures are anything to go by.

Link the oddest behaviour thread if you can.

I need my crack fix today. Grin

Cuttingthegrass · 02/02/2019 10:16

Yup I could be so productive if I went cold turkey. It's always just another 5 mins and an hour slips by Blush

MyFootHurts · 02/02/2019 10:30

Totally agree. I justify my addiction by telling myself I have learnt much from the feminist boards and from the relationships board, but I also spend a lot of time giggling ( and sometimes snorting) at the very, very funny posts on aibu. Even my children will complain 'oh, you're not on Mumsnet AGAIN'.

longtimelurkerhelen · 02/02/2019 11:20

@MyFootHurts The snorting is a dead giveaway, I just get a look from dh he says Mumsnet?

@Crunchymum Think this is it.

I frequently steal to feed my mumsnet habit.

Nowwhenitrains · 02/02/2019 14:34

YANBU. I tried to break the addiction twice and I failed. The toilet is the place where I realise I’m taking it too far but I need my fix Grin

longtimelurkerhelen · 02/02/2019 14:38

I think my favorite threads are the CF ones.

First rule of MN: don't talk about MN.

SIL was telling me this long winded, boring story at Xmas but then DB mentioned 'she took to MN to ask' and I was instantly all ears.

Of course I denied all knowledge and mumbled something along the lines of 'Oh, netmums??'. Cue explanation no, mums net. Oh. No. I don't know nothing about that.

Crafty, very crafty.

Clarich007 · 02/02/2019 14:46

I only discovered Mumsnet a year or so ago, but by god it is addictive !!
I get so involved in reading the stories until they just fizzle out.Would love to read updates now and again.
I find it endlessly fascinating, and O can honestly say it's given me some of the best laughs I have ever had.
How long has Mumsnet been around ?

longtimelurkerhelen · 02/02/2019 14:54

@halfwitpicker sneaky's best Wink

@Clarich007 I only discovered it about 2 months ago, one hit and I was addicted. It was the Mexican House Thief thread.

That thread is soooo funny!

People randomly shagging in front of other people! The dog with a bib on sat at the table made me Grin

In the 50s they had gin and Valium, Mumsnet is a perfectly good substitute.

BettyJJ · 02/02/2019 15:08

Very addictive. I no longer read books. My literacy skills have regressed. I have to think really hard to use the right words.

Time to give it up.

DragonKiller · 02/02/2019 15:11

I do admit that, when typing stuff up at work, I automatically start to type A-I-B-U but no one has noticed yet. (Am waiting for forthcoming intervention when I inevitably forget to delete it).

longtimelurkerhelen · 02/02/2019 15:16

@GnothiSeafton Lovely, I have 18 years to catch up on. Grin

ChesterGreySideboard · 02/02/2019 15:18

I clearly remember one day being pissed out of my brains (one bottle of gin between 4 and a lot of beer and some Prosecco) and MNing while throwing up in the loo.
It is so addictive.

longtimelurkerhelen · 02/02/2019 15:19

I never had Valium either feel like I'm missing out

YANBU, my 2 new year's resolutions were to give up booze, lose weight, and ditch MN as sick of all the negative and arguing with fuckwits and/or bigots lol.
So far finding the first two a lot more easier! Grin

longtimelurkerhelen · 02/02/2019 15:27

@GlitterStick I know, some of the things poster's say shock me. I tend towards to the funnier threads now.
