Slightly peeved at new neighbour.

My previous neighbour was an elderly gentleman and he had to sell his house to go into a home.

I would put his bin out for him as our path is steep and he struggled to get the bin up it.

When he moved out and the house was on the market I used his bin and put it out with mine.

When the house was bought by a young couple it needed a lot of work doing, this work has been ongoing now for several months and throughout I have continued to put the bin out, they haven't been living on the house so various tradesmen and decorators have been using the bin and I have put it out for them in their absence.

Well they have finally moved in (I think though they may just be staying over some times?)

Last night I forgot to put the bin out so dashed out this morning in my dressing gown and wellies. Well next door have put their own bin out and just left mine. AIBU to be slightly peeved that they didn't bother putting mine out despite knowing I have done theirs for months.

Yes I know it's a minor irritation in the grand scheme of things.

I wish you were my neighbour, you sound lovely!

Dextrodependant · 01/02/2019 12:08

@Twisque thanks, I am a unrepentant bin botherer but I am not all bad.

Good grief, get a life. You're mildly peeved and feel the need to ask via a forum whether YABU. Yes, you are.

Consolidatedyourloins · 01/02/2019 12:13

I think OP is great, her posts made me laugh. I suspect she has a pretty good life actually Hmm

Dextrodependant · 01/02/2019 12:16

Thanks @Consolidatedyourloins Grin

I can't complain you know. Life is pretty good going, otherwise I would have more to discuss than my neighbours lack of support on bin day.

I think for revenge I might hide in their bin and shout BOO next time they go to put some rubbish in. That'll teach them!

I gather they knew you were at home and could manage to put your own bin out. I would think it odd if my neighbour came in and brought my bin out while I was home and I wouldn't dream of taking out my neighbours bin if they were in their house. I wouldn't take it out unless asked anyway, as ours are pay per lift. You have no reason to be miffed at all.

Dextrodependant · 01/02/2019 12:24

I full accept my unreasonableness. Both in being minorly disgruntled and my original unreasonableness of interfering with their bins.

I am a reformed character I swear.

To be fair, I wouldn't put an able-bodied neighbour's bin out for them if they were home.

Consolidatedyourloins · 01/02/2019 12:29

Haha! We usually lock ours in the back garden but I might start leaving it on the (small) drive in case my neighbour develops a yen for putting it out on bin day for me.

TrixieFranklin · 01/02/2019 12:31

Step away from the bins Grin

Dextrodependant · 01/02/2019 12:31

Theirs is in the back garden too, chained to the fence, I scale the 6 foot gate, over barbed wire, pick the lock on the padlock, use a sophisticated pulley system to get the bin over the fence and then drag it up the path against it's unyielding protests.

Hardly unreasonable to expect the same of them is it!

*this post may be untrue in its entirely.

I assumed it was a nice thing to do but it seems not going by this thread.

It was a nice thing of you to do but I know people (crazy uncle looking at you) who would label you as a busybody for it. Maybe best left as is, unless asked.

Consolidatedyourloins · 01/02/2019 16:05

😂Grin

Brilliant OP, I bet someone on this thread will think you're serious 🤣
