For these wedding flowers?

And could you make them yourself?

Been quoted 180 for mine, a bridesmaid, a flower girl & 3 button holes. I think it’s really expensive😩😩

There are plenty of wildflowers in bloom in July:

Quirkyturkey · 31/01/2019 23:11

Should have said, from what I can see in the pictures, I’ve grown all of these at some point and I’m by no means particularly green-fingered!

Dextrodependant · 31/01/2019 23:13

They are very pretty and as had been pointed out, you are paying for convenience and not just the actual flowers.

Kleptronic · 31/01/2019 23:14

Here's mine, this and 4 buttonholes cost £130. It was really heavy and had tons of flowers. It was bound with lilac raffia.

Cornflowers might not have the meaning you wish for a war wedding...

All the people saying go to Tesco and do it yourself.... I think you will find that you won't be able to find 'country meadow' flowers similar to that bouquet.

Similarly, if you go to market you will have to buy large quantities of flowers and might be surprised by the price. Will need to get up early to go to market a day or so before the wedding and it will probably take you all day to make the things you are talking about.

Have just asked my friend (who is a florist) and she said at least £120+. Bangs on all the time about brides who want to haggle over the price then decide to DIY. Has had to bale out loads over the years. She doesn't earn a lot as margins are so tight and people's idea of flower prices are skewed by the supermarkets. Florists do not put the price up just because the word 'wedding', 'valentines' or 'mother's day' is mentioned. Flower prices are driven by supply and demand hence the reason red roses are so expensive over valentine's day.

Everything about a wedding is temporary and your flowers will be in lots of your photos. For the sake of a few quid, don't skimp!

I think that's a really good price.and they look lovely

Ariela · 31/01/2019 23:29

My friend got married in July, and she bought several packets of flower seeds in the colours she wanted, including the most gorgeously scented sweet peas, she planted a couple of packets each week around the right times according to the plant so they were to be in flower about the right time. And she had to remember to water them. On the day she got 2 of us to cut as much as we could that looked nice, plus some greenery, and tie them in 1 big bunch for her and 3 for the 3 bridesmaids, and some buttonholes of sweet pea for the groom and ushers, we tied them with elastic hair bands and the tied over the top with some florist ribbon. Looked fab and the seeds were pretty cheap, but if not a gardener (she was) see no reason you couldn't do it with cheap flowers from Aldi/the supermarket either.

Orangepear · 31/01/2019 23:41

I did my own bouquet and button holes, with a £50 bunch of roses delivered from M&S. I looked on YouTube for how to do it, it was much easier than I expected!

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 31/01/2019 23:47

Have you considered paper flowers? I made mine out of pages from my favourit book and mixed them in with silk roses. I loved how they turned out, and actually very simple to make!

MostlyBoastly · 31/01/2019 23:52

You should have a day with all the women involved in your wedding party where you go and pick flowers for the ceremony.

HeronLanyon · 31/01/2019 23:53

I don’t think they look like weeds at all. They look like country wildflowers - really pretty and so much nicer than more forced false over fussy bouquets. Love them !!
180 is a lot but it could be one of those things where you think ‘I could do that, and find out too late that you couldn’t Confused

Travisandthemonkey · 01/02/2019 00:03

Can you actually be bothered with all the fuss of doing it yourself, you’ll spend ages and it won’t be professional.

And I think they’re lovely and seasonal.
Some people have no taste

Might not be exactly what you have in mind but I went for a dried bouquet when I got married, smelled beautiful and it's on display at home now. I got matching buttonholes too. I got mine from notonthrhighstreet:

sproutypotatohead · 01/02/2019 00:21

A photo too... they do lots of different designs, i went for one with lavender in

I made my own from artificial flowers for less than £30. You can get really good artificial flowers now and make them in advance; no one else will look too closely at them and my bouquet still looks just as good 3 years later as it did on the day, so I didn't feel like it was a waste of money.

Just a different idea. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Mummysharkdoodoodoo · 01/02/2019 06:35

I’m going to get them 🙈 i love them, and wouldn’t be able to do them myself. I wouldn’t have a clue 😂

I might ask another florist but the one I have asked Iv used lots 😩
