Don’t read if easily offended- bum worms

Name changed for this for obvious reasons as some friends of mine know my usual name.
Also posting here for traffic...

AIBU to believe there is a possibility this is worms.
I’ve had weird issues for a while involving itching, discharge and irritation, down there, with no cause found by gp.

However, I have intense itching at night all round that area. It will literally wake me up.

I have 3 young children (primary age) who have never had worms to my knowledge, but after reading stats on worms (I was shocked!????) I’m guessing they must have. I have checked after going the toilet (I’m not a troll, honest!) but can not see anything moving in there. There are some little white bits but they definitely do not move.

My question is, if any of you have worms or seen them in stool, do they move?? AIBU to think this is possibly worms?

I don’t want to treat unnecessarily as I’ve recently been on a few medications and one comes up as contradicted with the worming tablet.

I promise I’m not not a poo or vagina troll and apologise for the subject matter on a Monday morning Blush

What is your AIBU?

Why can't you use the general health or children's health topic for friffs sake?

Why don't Mumsnet just do away with all the Topics for any notice anyone takes of them? Everyone posts "for traffic". They should rename Mumsnet "For Traffic" and have done with it while they're at it.

Jeeze.

“They don’t like the light so you have to surprise them a bit if you’re trying to find them. Now there’s an image”

This made me laugh- images of me doing ninja moves under the covers with my phone torch at 2am 😂

bibbity- because times that I have posted in health, I’ve had 0 replies and I wondered if IABU to even consider worms (and treat the whole family) when I haven’t seen any. I read they can make people grumpy- perhaps you have bum worms Grin

@GummyGoddess - it generally starts when they go to nursery/preschool/school. Regular hand washing is one of the best preventatives but four and five year olds are not the best at this.

I didn't have worms as a child, nor nits. And I didn't notice anyone else with them. No letters sent out about them. I can't think why either my school was immune or it's just so more prevalent now Confused

I suspect it has something to do with less emphasis on hand washing, lower washing temperatures, more children in nurseries/toddler groups and the fondness for messy play.
There may also be some drug resistance.

Or Brexit.

I remember having them as a child and I only discovered them because they made my vagina itch. My bottom didn't seem to be affected but I was a small child at the time. I also read somewhere that adults can destroy them more easily via our immune system leaving us less prone. However that last bit could well be hogwash! They are like strands of white cotton, except the move itches. Hope this small experience helps you even if a bit OP.

@TheNoodlesIncident I never had nits either, my mum was fond of super tight french plaits so I guess that kept hair out of the way?

I shall not be looking forward to these or nits! Would rather have nits I think.
