DP family have an agreement to give
Let’s say 2 camels each

So DP buys all family all the time even DB wife Always got 2 camels!

I’ve been with DP 12 months had one Christmas with DP
Never thoughtful it’s was a candle whereas I put thought into what we brought DP brother and wife!!

DP just won’t say anything but will reduce amounts if at my birthday is only 1 camel and will make it seem everyone skint so shall they all reduce to 1 camel! I moaned at my DSIS about not getting DP a present but DBIL was suspended!

I find this really upsetting and a insult to DP relationship with me!

AIBU and drama queen?

Or should DP grow some balls!

Be thankful you got 1 camel, instead of say a scabby donkey?

If I've got the jist you're comparing what present you got to your partners exes? That's where you're going wrong, expectation leads to disappointment and all that...

MRex · 24/01/2019 12:50

Unfortunately the number of words mistyped means that your post is unintelligible. Regardless of dyslexia, YABU to complain that people don't understand what you're saying.

Try writing a summary as that leaves less room for error. I think you're saying DP's family spend say £20 for every gift ever and you bought something thoughtful for his DB & wife, but they decided to buy you just a candle or spend £10 on your gift (can't decipher that bit at all). Now somehow this has all blown up into a big deal (I'm not sure how nor why).

If that's the case then YABU, it's gifts, you can get them something cheap if you want or get something nice but don't start fighting over something that's supposed to be nice.

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 24/01/2019 12:50

Just say what it is. Are they exactly the same present?

MyFriendGoo5 · 24/01/2019 12:50

You need to ask for a donkey instead.

Donkeys are better than camels.

MartagonLilies · 24/01/2019 12:51

Shox Grin

OP what was the actual gift? Maybe that would help if YABU or not. I tend to agree with PP's though, any gift is lovely.

Housingcraze · 24/01/2019 12:51

Why can’t you edit posts?

DP from day one always spent 2 camels on brother partner.

From day one I got one 🐪

DP moaned he didn’t get birthday present I agreed it wasn’t ok and had words with my DSIS and DP didn’t even say anything to his family? DP won’t say anything or suggest reducing amounts as people could be poorer?

My family gave my partner 2 camels 🐪 my family hardly knew my partner also.

I feel it’s unfair!

Sounds like everyone has got the hump.. What about a dromedary?

MartagonLilies · 24/01/2019 12:54

I do think YWBU to tell your sister off for not getting your DP a birthday gift though Hmm
Do you live together?

GreatDuckCookery6211 · 24/01/2019 12:55

You've only been with DP 12 months, that's probably why. At least you got something hey?

Dotty1970 · 24/01/2019 12:55

You also sound a bit childish and 'grabby', so comparing what you have for a start

CookiesandCrisps · 24/01/2019 12:55

Oh I actually get it now!!!

I suppose it's just the difference between 2 families.
I used to get my dps family presents for Xmas etc. I've never had so much as a card back so I stopped.
Treat people how they treat you.

And camels are overrated anyways 😂

Dotty1970 · 24/01/2019 12:56

*stop

Huntawaymama · 24/01/2019 12:57

Yabu and entitled. You've not been together long and yes maybe they do like her more, get over it. My SIL gets on with our MIL way better then me and always gets nice gifts from her whereas I rarely get a card (we get on great though, she admits she just forgets about me) I don't let it bother me. I don't expect gifts from anyone

Gazelda · 24/01/2019 12:58

You got one camel for Christmas
Everyone else got 2

Your BF didn't get a gift from your sis for his birthday. You berated sis for this.

Did you get 2 camels for your birthday?

OP, in the scheme of things, this is quite a new relationship. I think it's a bit early to expect to be on equal footings with long established family members.

It would have been nice if your sis to get BF a token gift, but I think you were rude to bring it up.

MartagonLilies · 24/01/2019 12:58

Also, my DB and his DF live together, and every year they gift us far much more than we could afford to give them. We are pretty generous toward them, just not the same amount. We also have DC they buy great gifts for (they don't have DC), and sometimes I feel awkward or embarrassed, however they love to do it.
I'd feel terrible if they felt this way about us.I'm sure it will switch when our DC have grown, and they have little ones to fund.
It's not always tit for tat OP

Housingcraze · 24/01/2019 12:59

@Fluffyears the 🐪 got sent to North Pole!

@MRex thank you for verifying

Donkeys are cute maybe I get a little pony bright pink one

This post was meant to light heart regarding camels 🐪 and I did ask AIBU I obviously was!

WTBE · 24/01/2019 13:01

How awkward, your partner moaning about your sister not getting him a present? Enough for you to pull her up on it. Yes it would of been nice but hey ho.

I suspect none of you will be getting camels in the future!

MacarenaFerreiro · 24/01/2019 13:07

Bactrian or Dromedary?

Topseyt · 24/01/2019 13:07

I like camels. Are they the single hump variety, or do they have two humps.

Have gained enough camels to make up a good sized herd yet? Do they live in the garden?

paxillin · 24/01/2019 13:10

So you used camels because you thought we're too thick to divide £20 by two? You did think we are clever enough to see 1

wildone03 · 24/01/2019 13:12

Im in my office crying with laughter everytime i read the word camel..

Thank you for the much needed laugh OP.

Ethel36 · 24/01/2019 13:12

I don't think I'd want one camel let alone two. I think you've done well here, you just need to find an Arab camel dealer now...
