To ask you for a logical explanation to why this ring is burning?

I've found an old ring, it was my Great Great Grandmother's. I'm allowed to keep it.

Every time I pick it up, it goes hot! I thought I was imaging it at first, so picked it up a second time. It's burning hot. DH picked it up earlier, said stop being so ridiculous. He said it was normal temperature, if anything a bit cold Confused

What's going on? Can anyone logically explain a reason for this?

Our DC is just starting to speak and says a few words here and there. He can say "Ouch, burny!" (Taught by us to keep away from hot stuff). I curiously let him touch it and he shouted "Ouch! Burny".

It's not the One Ring To Rule them All. That didn't have a gemstone.
I suspect you've ended up with one of the nine rings for mortal man.
There's a very pissed off wring wraith out there wanting his ring back.

Yes I've read Lord of the Rings far far too many times.

Could just be cursed though.

You're sensitive to nickel.

Is there any chance it's made of lava?
