Was talking about this with some friends yesterday and curious to know what have people experienced with their children?

My daughter when she was 3 bit into a laundry liquid tablet 🙈 was the scariest thing and I was a panicked mess!

She also sprayed bathroom bleach in her eye when we visited my mum which was equally as horrific!

Funnily enough though my other 3 have never done anything like this, or stuck anything up there nose. Unlike me at 6 years old getting a diamanté stuck my nostril and spending a night in hospital because they was struggling to retrieve it 😬

@NigelGresley is that really necessary? The OP's post wasn't illegible. A few grammatical errors aren't going to break Mumsnet.

Knittedgnome · 18/01/2019 18:14

@NigelGresley take that stick from up your arse and give yourself a smack around the head with it.

gentlyscented · 18/01/2019 18:16

I hate typing, and I type anyhow and don't go back to check it all before pressing send. I'm sorry if my laziness affects you so much that you feel the need to come onto a random thread to point out my spelling and grammar mistakes 🧐 auto corrects a bitch sometimes 👎🏼

CottonSock · 18/01/2019 18:18

Up nose even

gentlyscented · 18/01/2019 18:24

What is it with all these kids and shoving things up their nose 😂

So far today I've removed about 2 billion LoL doll accessories from my feral 2 years olds mouth!
She's giving me heart palpitations after reading all these posts 😫

YouTheCat · 18/01/2019 18:24

I put a tiny doll's leg up my nose when I was 3. My mam held me down and my dad got the tweezers out and retrieved it. He was an RAF aeromed so was at least trained and it got the leg out. That was the only time I ever did anything like that.

YouTheCat · 18/01/2019 18:25

I'm 49 now and remember it vividly. Grin

spoon19996 · 18/01/2019 18:25

My two year old put coco pops up her nose, they dissolved luckily no a&e trip

PoisonButTasty · 18/01/2019 18:26

Washing machine tablet

cojmum · 18/01/2019 18:30

My daughter once ate one of those little packets of silcia gel that you get in new shoes that clearly states 'DO NOT EAT'. She was fine though.

Minxmumma · 18/01/2019 18:38

My eldest shoved a kidney bean up her nose. They left it to be sneezed out - it took months. I also thought she drank a bottle of cough mixture - she hadn't. After being discharged from a&e I found it all in her play kitchen. She had climbed on the sink to get it from the cupboard.

Middle dd has sprayed perfume and aur freshener in her face *neither at home though

NigelGresley · 18/01/2019 18:40

Like I said on another thread, nobody wants to be the twat that points these things out but can anyone tell me how we’re doing the OP any favours by ignoring them?

This isn’t about correcting a few spelling mistakes or typos, which could be ignored.

I’m not sure why we need a discussion about it, I’ve given the OP some info and she can either carry on making the same mistakes or choose to do something about it. Might be useful for helping the kids with their English homework!

honeylulu · 18/01/2019 18:42

My 2 year old swallowed a lithium battery. Ended up in surgery. That was a bit shit. (She was fine luckily. )

Crunchymum · 18/01/2019 18:42

Sucked on an old (leaking) AA battery, Metanium nappy cream, a small battery (swallowed whole), sucked the ice cubes of someone's Baileys (would have drunk the actual Baileys had there been any left!!)

  • had medical advice / trip to GP for them all apart from the ice cubes.

Same child. The Baileys was very recently and child is nearly 4 Shock

CandleConcerto · 18/01/2019 19:00

Not sure about the kids but there are a couple of pedants on this thread who of a stick shoved up they’re arse. Sorry - HAVE a stick shoved up THEIR arse. Oops.

SongforSal · 18/01/2019 19:12

DD is 18 now. When she was toddling she picked up and took a swig of the Windolene bottle that was on the floor behind me (I was cleaning the windows and I did not secure the cap. Totally my fault :( )

Legged it to A&E, I was a hot crying mess, and she was totally fine. Still makes me feel guilty to this day.

My DS once announced he was Superman when he was roughly 5. I saw him leap of the back of the sofa at precisely the same time he called this out. Tooth went through his lip. Never seen so much blood in my life. He's 13 now and has a few other little scars to match. Bloody kids.

missmouse101 · 18/01/2019 19:14

@candle - it is because we're fed up with seeing it. It jumps out at the reader and it's an important one to learn.

MorningsEleven · 18/01/2019 19:15

He also shut his willy in the drawer of the DVD player

Jeezo nazareth! That's epic.

We've had Smarties up the nose, I just let them melt. One of mine ate mouse poison. Didn't die or grow whiskers.

CanIGoToBedNow · 18/01/2019 19:16

My DS drank bleach - that was a fun trip to A&E.

Apparently toilet duck white and shine is the right kind of bleach to drink so that’s ok 😳

DoJoYah · 18/01/2019 19:16

A bit of a peanut butter sandwich. Turns out DS is allergic. Scariest thing I have ever experienced.

CandleConcerto · 18/01/2019 19:22

It’s really not - it’s not more important than prioritising the right facets of a discussion and reading the room.

gentlyscented · 18/01/2019 19:26

@missmouse101 @NigelGresley the only reason people jump on a post to point out grammar and spelling mistakes is to make themselves feel great and superior "oh look at me I'm cleverer than you because your thick as shit" it's a typo..a simple mistake.. get over yourself. Scroll past and enjoy the rest of your day it's really not hard 😂

Bad enough that a toddler managed to reach the Calpol and drink from the bottle. Three separate occasions made it worse. Even worse, DM was a GP.
