TMI warning. Odoured discharge

So about a week ago, I had a very heavy painful menstrual bleed. It stopped after 1 day. Now today, I have a very heavy vaginal discharge of a white short of discharge which smells to the high heavens. It's coming out in sort of lots of clumps of a slimey white sort of discharge from my vagina. The stink is really bad.
What the hell is this? I haven't had a colposcopy or anything recently but the smell is like when I had an infection post colposcopy years ago.
Lower back pain again, but nothing bad.
Could I have an infection somehow?

I know you’ve already said twice there’s nothing up there but are you really really sure? I once left a tampon in (no idea how!) and a week later the smell was AWFUL and I felt really ill. If there’s any chance at all then please double check.

Nope, absolutely nothing up there haha. A vacuum lol.

I know it's tempting to wash with soap when you have discharge with odour but one of the things which causes BV is using soap. Wash with just water (and forever after you clear this up also) and be careful about wiping front to back as bacteria from the back passage doesn't belong in the vag. Maybe have a quick wash with flannel and just water after toilet.

Don't worry it does feel a bit gross and it is depressing but I'm sure the doctor will be able to help and it will clear up quickly. Look into gels for BV also which can help prevent in future. Good luck

I think a bath would be a better option than a shower. You could sit a while in the bath with adding more hot water so that you don't freeze. I know that a lot of homes only have showers now so I hope yours is not one of those houses.
Good luck for the Dr tomorrow, I hope you get the appropriate meds.

OP you aren’t alone- I’m heading to the pharmacy also in the morning. It’s yuck, but it’s common, just an overgrowth of good bacteria. Unfortunately they come with a rank smell!

halfwitpicker · 18/01/2019 01:37

Crikey

EBearhug · 18/01/2019 01:38

If you'very got an infection and you're going for a bath, make it a salt bath rather than bubble bath.

But if it's flowing out lie a heavy period, I would probably call 111 - when I called them with a Bartholin's abscess, they contacted my surgery so when I called when the lines opened in the morning, they were expecting to hear from me and had kept an appointment slot. Yours sounds like quite a bad infection with that flow, and you probably shouldn't leave it too long before it's looked at.

Sienna9522 · 18/01/2019 01:49

@Bouledeneige I was thinking the same!

agnurse · 18/01/2019 01:56

If you haven't had sex in months I'm thinking BV. This is not an STI. It can be caused by any number of things. Definitely see your provider.

almutasakieun · 18/01/2019 02:37

God no I'm not a troll. Though I feel like a stinky troll at the moment! Alarm set for 8 (can't sleep) to get a GP appointment. If I don't pollute the waiting room with the stink! Oh God, this is fucking gross.

brokenhead · 18/01/2019 10:37

Have you got some help

almutasakieun · 18/01/2019 11:36

Yes, got antibiotics! Phew. And hopefully not from the stink!!

ShirleyPhallus · 18/01/2019 11:37

Did the doctor say it was BV?

bobstersmum · 18/01/2019 11:49

Sorry to ask but what is infected and how?

MeetJoeTurquoise · 18/01/2019 12:04

I used to have repeated bouts of BV when I had a mirena coil. The smell was so bad and I lived on antibiotics for a couple of years.
Hope they work quickly Op.

StickItUpYaJumpa · 18/01/2019 13:06

BV?

cushioncovers · 18/01/2019 16:08

Did the doctor say it was BV?

I think the gp would of probably done a swab and sent it off.
