AIBU to think everyone should know what epoxy repair putty is?

This is probably not the proper place for this but epoxy repair putty is the best ever and I just want people to know what it is. It is a two part putty that is kneaded together and then sets hard.
I have repaired our vaccum cleaner which had two great cracks and is now perfectly usable. Also used it on plastic leaking plumbing pipe under the sink. Have fixed metal, hard plastic and ceramic.
I used it for repairing favourite toys that would otherwise go in the bin.
Anyone else used it with success?

Would it work on a freezer drawer? So, an icy non-dry type of environment?

I’ve got some in a drawer I’ve bever opened...

HeronLanyon · 15/01/2019 23:19

Yes I love not and the little spatulas with which you mix it. But gotta mix fast !!

HeronLanyon · 15/01/2019 23:19

Love it.

jessstan2 · 15/01/2019 23:20

I know what it is, it's a resin.

Seventiescarpetswirls · 15/01/2019 23:21

Never heard of it before but can tell we're going to become firmly acquainted in the near future Grin

TheSheepofWallSt · 15/01/2019 23:22

I used to live on a boat and two part epoxy was invaluable.
If you like this sort of think, also try Captain Tollys Creeping Crack Cure - its magical (not raunchy).

Lucylugs · 15/01/2019 23:26

WellThisIsShit Yes I'm sure it would work. You might have to redo now and again if you keep having to pull at the drawer. Take the drawer out and have it dry before application
HeronLanyon The putty is more like blutack so no panic with the mixing.😊

I only know what it because we used to have travertine tiles that needed repairing. If it wasn’t for that I would have no clue. Is it not quite toxic?

HeronLanyon · 15/01/2019 23:29

Apols must have been thinking about some kind of wood
Filler. Was finding a vacuum repair hard to imagine. Next time in Robert days shall check it out. Love repair products - this sounds great.

wowfudge · 15/01/2019 23:30

Miliput can be used to repair boats, so I'm sure it'll work on your freezer drawer. You can sand it, paint it, drill it. I repaired a notch cut out of the front edge of a window ledge with it and patched in a gap in a skirting board, matching up the pattern. I love it.

Never heard of it but that sounds truly fantastic! Where can I ask for it?

mamalovesviolet · 15/01/2019 23:35

My dad loves this stuff. The smell takes me back. It's just called two part in my family!

wowfudge · 15/01/2019 23:36

I need Captain Tollys Creeping Crack Cure. Just looked it up. What have you used it for Sheep?

Lucylugs · 15/01/2019 23:48

sheep that Captain tollys look amazing. Thanks for that.
nigel the epoxy resin (glue) does have a strong smell so probably is quite toxic but the putty can also be bought without a mixer and that can be mixed in your hands so not a strong smell.

Is this like sugru?

GreenDragon75 · 15/01/2019 23:55

Shamelessly place marking as I need this in my life. I will forget the name and not be able to find the thread tomorrow.

JuniperBeer · 15/01/2019 23:56

I love Sugru! It stays flexible though so I think they both have their good points!

YerAWizardHarry · 15/01/2019 23:57

Used it to fix a hole in my car exhaust recently 😁

Memorialdrink · 15/01/2019 23:57

Milliput! I have mended almost anything with it!

JuniperBeer · 15/01/2019 23:57

@greendragon75 I’ve started taking screenshots on my phone of things I need to remember. They’re in my photo roll then!

BlossomCat · 15/01/2019 23:59

My dad fixed everything with either Araldite or blue-tac, but didn't seem to have a system for what he used when something was broken.
The parcel shelf on his car had big lumps of blue-tac, holding the sides together, and araldite was used on the breadbin.
I love the smell, it takes me right back to the kitchen of my childhood.

PerkingFaintly · 15/01/2019 23:59

Ooh, I haven't used epoxy resin since childhood.

I'm currently considering self-bonding tape for a tricky pipe repair, though. No experience with it, but this stuff looks MAGIC.

Lucylugs · 16/01/2019 00:02

FlibbertyGiblets It sets hard and can be sanded, drilled and painted over. I think sugru is flexible and rubbery when set. But it's a handy thing too.

I want to use it in artwork
