Paddington23 · 13/01/2019 12:31

Got endometriosis had op and on treatment that’s not really working. past month or so I’ve been in really bad pain past week it’s been so bad that every 20 mins or so it cripples me I have to stand or sit completely un able to move. The pain shoots across my womb and both ovaries. I had an internal scan last weekend came back normal. It’s crippling me and I can’t do anything I’m dreading work tomorrow but I can’t call in sick as to many sick days I don’t no what to do the pain is so bad

Please call 111 OP. They can give you advice and send you to out of hours GP or A&E if they feel it's necessary. In my area the only way to get an out of hours appointment is via 111.

Also ignore Seniorcitizen telling you it can't possibly be an A&E issue because you haven't died since Friday. If 111 tell you to go to A&E then GO!

Seniorcitizen1 · 13/01/2019 19:21

If 111 says go to A&E then of course go - but I repeat again that A&E is not first port of call for severe pain and neither is MN

53rdWay · 13/01/2019 19:36

Seniorcitizen, you said very plainly that 'she has had the pain since Friday and isn’t dead. Not an A&E case', along with comparing her to time-wasters who turn up at A&E with a sore ear.

You aren't qualified to say what is and isn't an A&E case, and you aren't qualified to tell her how serious it is. You don't know. "Call 111" is fine advice, leave it there.

Purplefrogshoes · 13/01/2019 19:44

At least call the out of hours service OP. My best friend has endometriosis and almost died from a ruptured ovarian cyst/sepsis because she was frightened of people's reaction to seeking help

NOTthepinkranger · 13/01/2019 19:44

Well senior is a cardiac arrest comes in they’re a MET call anyway so will be soon to as priority over someone who is not an accident or emergency (my last rotation was a&e if you want to have a moan)

OP, I would have no qualms about seeing you in a&e if your pain is debilitating and 10/10.

NOTthepinkranger · 13/01/2019 19:45

If a cardiac arrest* sorry

BoreOfWhabylon · 13/01/2019 19:49

Please call 111, OP. It's what they're for.

Seniorcitizen1 I've reported your posts to MNHQ. Not only are they breathtakingly unsupportive, they are frankly dangerous, in my professional opinion as a triage nurse consultant.

CatnissEverdene · 13/01/2019 19:53

I'd phone 111 and take their advice.

Severe pain is always a warning that something is wrong, and better checked. Let a Doctor decide if you are time wasting Flowers

RedPanda2 · 13/01/2019 19:57

Spoiler alert: after 3 pages of 'ring 111' the OP does not ring 111

Absofuckinglutely · 13/01/2019 20:18

@Seniorcitizen1 I find your posts breathtakingly unhelpful and unsupportive. Obviously turning up to a&e with a minor illness is time wasting, no one would argue that. However, op has recently had an operation, she is in severe pain. There are a number of serious things that may point to.

None of us on here know what could be wrong with OP. It's certainly not normal to be in 10/10 level pain, even if intermittently.

Op - are you feeling otherwise well, no temperature etc? If someone close to you was suffering the pain you are in, would you want them to go to a&e? I ask this, as often we treat others better than we treat ourselves. If you were someone you were in charge of looking after, would you take yourself off to a&e? If so, go. Or at least call out of hours.

Hope you feel better soon.

Babypug · 13/01/2019 20:25

Why ask this question on a forum?! Jeez pick up the phone if you feel it qualifies a 111/ 999 call or a drive to the hospital only YOU can decide. Why are you asking strangers for advice surely your an adult and make a sensible decision.

FaithInfinity · 13/01/2019 20:40

I’ve been admitted 3 times now with abdo pain. Twice via GP and via OOH (called 111 and they arranged it). Each time they’ve been concerned that it’s my appendix with an unusual presentation. Multiple investigations including a laparoscopy finally led to an endometriosis diagnosis. I asked my consultant what I should do if I have a pain flare up again, he said I still needed to seek medical attention and would likely be admitted because it could still be my appendix!

@Paddington23 I hope you’ve called 111 and will be seen soon. There are other things they can prescribe alongside codeine such as oramorph. Hope it settles soon.

Paddington23 · 13/01/2019 21:30

I’m calling my doctor tomorrow I slept most of the afternoon I haven’t called 111 or gone to a and e last time they wouldn’t offer me anything more than codine which I have already and some of the post did make me feel like I wasn’t that ill. I’m off to bed dosed up on codine with my heat pack just had a warm bath and some warm lacto free milk. Thanks for all your advice and care partners really looking out for and ready to take me if neeeded. Always have a bag packed to go just incase. It consists of pyjamas in a pyjama bag with bed socks pants and a thin jumper top. I’ve been tracking my pain and listening any symptoms.

Paddington. All I had was a pain. I was really ill. Spent so far two weeks in a hospital and kept in a&e all day another time. At the end of this lot of meds, I will have been on anti-b's for 6 weeks including IV anti-b's.
I had no symptoms at all even with a fever and extremely low iron. Like I said last time I was admitted within 2 hours from a condition very similar to endo (I have both it's the adenomyosis that's causing me grief). Reading my discharge papers was shocking as like another poster, I didn't realise how ill I actually was.
I kept telling myself for days that I would be fine and it would pass. It didn't either time. My womb was swelling as a result of an infection and pushing onto everything else which the longer I left it the worse it was getting.
I'm scheduled for surgery because it causing additional issues to various organs and parts of my body. This month it could be the endo that starts to fight back. Those saying it's nothing don't realise the pain and complications that can be caused as a result of endo. Some of which can be extremely serious and you will only know after you have had blood and urine taken, plus a scan. I am sorry that the hospital the last time prescribed something less than you have at home the last time. These things change quickly. If I had gone back when the pain started it would have been less than a week from being observed all day.
Your body is in pain for a reason. The meds you have aren't working and you need help. Yes even call 111 but don't leave it until tomorrow.

Purplefrogshoes · 14/01/2019 10:45

How are you this morning OP?

Ollivander84 · 14/01/2019 11:22

@Seniorcitizen1 if I hadn't gone to a&e for severe pain I would be paralysed. I went with back pain, I had cauda equina and needed 5hrs of spinal surgery

notsurewhatshappening · 14/01/2019 11:29

Hope you are feeling better OP.

Paddington23 · 14/01/2019 18:27

Thanks had some blood in my poo when I wiped and so heavy doctor said it was normal and referred me to the gynaecologist clinic

OP posts:
Paddington23 · 14/01/2019 20:14

She said it all looked fine although it was definitely from there

OP posts:
lljkk · 14/01/2019 20:26

Paddington23 · 14/01/2019 20:50

Paddington23 · 16/01/2019 19:52

Having to change pads every hour and in pain doc thinks it’s normal I’m so fustrated

OP posts:
Talkingfrog · 17/01/2019 00:04

That is not normal. Hopefully the gynaecology referral will help.

Grammar · 17/01/2019 00:16

If the pain is 10/10 and this is a new onset then you could have an ovarian torsion. It is A&E appropriate as it could be an emergency. They will scan you and give you appropriate analgesia.
If this is not a new presentation though, and you have painkillers at home, I would take full strength and phone 111
Good luck, it sounds absolutely miserable.

Grammar · 17/01/2019 00:18

Sorry, just seen updates.
