To have cosmetic surgery

firefirefire · 10/01/2019 20:07

I'm a mum of 5. My breasts have literally had it (spaniels ears)

I am booked in to have surgery to have them sorted out with an uplift (no implants) but as it gets closer I am worried I am being stupid to have it done as it's quite a big op, and recovery time etc.

AIBU or would you have cosmetic surgery? Has anyone on here had it before?

My breasts genuinely ruin my self esteem and confidence. I would feel amazing with them back to normal

If you can afford it, go for it. I'm sure as a mum of five you spend most of your time looking after the children and putting yourself second.
So I'd say be a little bit 'selfish' and do this for you. Good luck.

Gronky · 10/01/2019 20:11

I would feel amazing with them back to normal

I can't comment from a perspective of having it done personally and I doubt they'll ever be exactly as they were but if it makes you happy then that seems justification enough to me.

StealingYourWiFi · 10/01/2019 20:12

Yes I would. I work in this area and scrubbed for this exact procedure today. It's a FANTASTIC surgery and one I would gladly have should the time come!

Battytwatty · 10/01/2019 20:13

I would lose to have this procedure. Please may I ask how much it costs?

Littleraindrop15 · 10/01/2019 20:15

Could I ask how much they cost??

I would definitely not think twice x

Norfolkenchancemate · 10/01/2019 20:16

Best thing I ever did. Don't even doubt your decision!!

Pleodag · 10/01/2019 20:16

I would also love to have this done!

madcatladyforever · 10/01/2019 20:22

I've had it done, it's called mastopexy, it was the best thing I've ever done and although the scars are big they soon fade and you can't even see mine now.
I didn't think it was particularly painful as they are very good with anaesthesia and pain relief now and they healed up really quickly.
I felt so overjoyed to wake up and see my new pert breasts afterwards. I was advised not to have implants and i didn't need them.

sulflower · 10/01/2019 20:24

Go for it. I have been umming and aahing about surgery for months now (different type) but I keep making excuses. I really want it but a bit apprehensive.

birdiewoof · 10/01/2019 20:25

I personally wouldn’t. I wouldn’t risk a GA and possible infections for something that I didn’t need medically.

bengalcat · 10/01/2019 20:27

I had mine lifted under local a few years ago - looks good

whassupmissus · 10/01/2019 20:31

Do it

Yinv · 10/01/2019 20:32

Could I ask how old you are?

Is the sagging a result of age, as well as having 5dc?

I just think that if it’s age, there is not really any point in the surgery because as you get older, bits of your body start doing stuff like this and eventually you have to just go with it.

canibehereifimnotamum · 10/01/2019 20:34

Having a GA really isn't a big deal if you're healthy. Go for it!!

canibehereifimnotamum · 10/01/2019 20:35

And I've had 2 cosmetic surgery procedures- ears pinned back twice. They messed the first one up 🙄 am going to have a boob job but waiting until after children

firefirefire · 10/01/2019 20:37

Thank you :-)

I'm only 36.

Yeah I don't really expect them to be back to how they were before, but anything less droopy than they are now would be fab Grin

OP posts:
firefirefire · 10/01/2019 20:38

Ps. It's costing about £4k

As a mum I’m afraid I absolutely would not consider this
I couldn’t forgive myself if something went wrong and I left myself unable to care for my kids or even worse died.
Infections, complications etc they all do occur even if not common.
Whilst I understand the upset from body issues I’d have to try and out it into perspective that my body is healthy and the shape of it doesn’t determine who I am.

EmeraldShamrock · 10/01/2019 20:41

Do it, think of the confidence boost. I know it has risks but you are very young and deserve to be happy with your body. Goodluck xx

LadyGAgain · 10/01/2019 20:44

Two very close friends have had this done in the past year - one just before Xmas. Totally the right thing for them. Psychologically and physiologically. Totally.

DaysOfCurlySpencer · 10/01/2019 20:58

There is always a risk with surgery, but there is also a risk when crossing the road. If you don't try you will regret it, and it could make you so much more confident and happy.

I had small but droopy boobs and I had surgery. It has meant that I am not bottom heavy and can find clothes that look good, not the same op that you are planning but I don't regret it. What I do regret is not being able to afford more surgery as things have changed over the years. I have had various cosmetic procedures and I don't regret any of them.

If you had said you were going for implants I would have been a bit less enthusiastic as they can cause problems several years later but for this I would say do it, and look forward to the results.

user1493413286 · 10/01/2019 21:00

I plan to after my next child; I’ve accepted a lot of the changes having a baby has made to my body but I don’t see why I shouldn’t make the changes that I can make.

Passthebubbly · 10/01/2019 21:01

Best thing I ever done at 40 years old, recovery was not as bad as I anticipated honestly you won’t regret it

AmIAWeed · 10/01/2019 21:03

I had lift and implants and it was the best thing I ever did.
I went from hating my body, full on t-shirt and padded bra never ever let my bf see me without bras and t-shirt on. I'd lock myself in the bathroom to get changed.
I had the op and 2 things happened, 1 I looked better so felt better and more confident but 2 and the biggest thing was I felt a sense of power. That I'd stopped doing anything for me, everything was the kids, work, running the house and suddenly I'd done this hugely extravagant thing all for me. It felt great and made me realize there was alot I could do for me.
Within 3 months my confidence had sorted that I'd applied and got a promotion at work, I went from earning £16k to £21k all because I believed in myself.
If you are doing this for you, do it!
GA concerns are all well and good but you cannot underestimate your mental well being.

BaeBae · 10/01/2019 21:55

Mine were empty sacks after 2 kids. I had uplift & implants 2 years ago and I am SO happy!! Best money spent ever. Don’t have to think about them anymore. Don’t have a half filled padded to fuck bra cup anymore.
