I’ve just paid £14 for one tablet and a small tube of cream
Fourteen fucking pounds!
AIBU to think that’s bloody ridiculous
I bet if men had burning vaginas it’d be a lot cheaper to get hold of 😤

Pretty sure when it first came out the oral tablets (Diflucan?) were about 20 quid each. 20 odd years ago.

I used to reckon they charged that coz they knew you were desperate.

Take a garlic clove, peel the papery bit making sure you don't bruise or cut into the fleshy part. Stick it up your wanny and leave overnight, scoop it out in the morning. It's a natural antibacterial.

Costs pence and sorts it out far more efficiently than gunky expensive creams. Has worked for me for years, sometimes takes two nights to sort it.

I needed it for the first time in years recently as well and share your horror. Also, I was trying to get some paracetamol suppositories a few weeks ago (don't look at me like that, it's the norm in FranceSmile) and it would have been £65!!

Bodicea · 10/01/2019 21:07

You can get it on minor ailments.

anitagreen · 10/01/2019 21:08

The Asda one was £3 something and the pill was around £4 lifesaver nearly ripped my fanny of in rage it was so painful

BoomTish · 10/01/2019 21:09

Be thankful treatment is available OTC in the UK.

In Ireland, you can get Canestan OTC but nothing stronger, and the pessary version can be hard to find.

When Canestan (the pessary) didn’t work for me recently, I had to pay €60 for a GP visit to get a prescription, and then €16 for the generic version of Diflucan.

steff13 · 10/01/2019 21:29

They just charge that because they know people are desperate.

This is what I've always thought. They charge that much because they know you'll pay anything to get rid of it.

Unless you're fortunate to have a walk in service (many areas don't now), you may be waiting weeks for an appointment

If you are waiting weeks for an appointment then this is against national guidance and should be raised as an issue. Appointments should be offered within 48 hrs for symptomatic patients.

JudasPrudy · 11/01/2019 11:31

The last thing I want to do when I have thrush is stick garlic up my fanny or sit on a soggy yoghurty sanitary towel Confused

littlemeitslyn · 11/01/2019 12:28

Why the need for swearing?🙄

MulticolourMophead · 11/01/2019 19:55

I just bought the capsules linked by @Bringbackthestripes, price ad dropped to £1.59. I rarely get thrush, but when I do, it's awful. And it seems to start when I can't get to a pharmacy.

At that price it’s definately worth having a couple in stock so you don’t, in desperation, have to pay a fortune.
