In this weather! It's minus 1!

It's making me irrationally ragey!! Put some fucking clothes on, man.

As soon as he gets home from work he's in shorts and t-shirt. He goes out to the shops or petrol station like it... IN THIS WEATHER!

When his toes go black and drop off in his shoes he'll get no sympathy from me. I'll purse my lips and say "I told you so" and "I hope you're not going to get that gangrene on the bedding"!

He must look utterly ridiculous 😂

the99 · 09/01/2019 20:51

The issue is that it makes me uncomfortable and my comfort is far more important.

I just glanced across the living room at DH. Yep. He's wearing shorts.

the99 · 09/01/2019 20:53

He doesn't have any strange reactions to the heat. We've lived in some very hot countries and he's done site visits in 50 Celsius wearing a shirt and trousers. In fact, he used to put a coat on when it hit 20!

I wear shorts all winter. Short short shorts too. I refuse to wear trousers. Like, ever. I do wear tights though.

TheFifthKey · 09/01/2019 20:53

I know someone whose DC always wear shorts - it’s her way of signifying just how amazingly sporty and active they are. I saw a guy walking along a few days ago with a big family group obviously off out for a country walk, they were wrapped up warmly and he was in shorts. It’s so clearly so that people say “I can’t believe you’re wearing shorts in this weather!”. I’d just ignore it every time and not give them the satisfaction of noticing. It’s Performance Short Wearing.

Denoun get lost and close the door on your way out Grin

My Dad wears shorts almost all year 'round. He's a milkman & we know it's seriously cold when he wears trousers to work!

AwdBovril · 09/01/2019 20:56

I have found my people. DH is like this... and DD is shaping up to be the same way! I usually wear at least one more layer than either of them, at all times. They absolutely hated last summer.

Djnoun · 09/01/2019 20:58

I feel really weird and restricted if I wear trousers. Like my legs feel trapped. So I stopped wearing them.

I have a tights subscription from France so I get two new fancy pairs of tights a month. If it really cold, I double up. Even in the snow!

Ellie56 · 09/01/2019 21:05

It's really cold here tonight. DS has just gone out. In shorts, T shirt and a hoody. Hmm

heymammy · 09/01/2019 21:08

My 12yr old dd is still wearing jersey shorts most days (non uniform school) and gets very sniffy if I suggest she wear trousers on frosty mornings!

Problem is...most of her shorts are getting too small and it's not easy to buy new ones in fecking winter Hmm

Oldraver · 09/01/2019 21:11

I saw my neighbour in shorts after Christmas ans today the post lady had shorts on.

I was thinking all the people I saw out without socks must be blimmin cold

lazyarse123 · 12/01/2019 12:36

I don 't wear shorts (too fat) but i wear flip flops all year unless it's raining cos it might be slippery.

JacquesHammer · 12/01/2019 12:42

Years ago all small boys wore short trousers to school and no-one batted an eyelid, some schools still have those as regulation uniform up to a certain age

Yup! At the school DD has left shorts were compulsory uniform for boys throughout.

the99 · 12/01/2019 15:43

@lazyarse123 are your feet purple? Do you have little areas of black skin on the tips of your toes? Do you still have the same number of toes that you were born with?

In the morning, DH puts on his work clothes and coat and scarf and de-ices the car and complains about the cold - he's a reasonably normal person.

In the evening, he becomes the short wearing freak!

Why does he feel cold in the morning but becomes a white walker in the evening!!

tiggerkid · 12/01/2019 15:45

Yep, same here!

lazyarse123 · 12/01/2019 17:26

Haha i have all my toes, i find if my shoulders are warm then the rest of me is ok. I am always warmer than everyone else which is not always a blessing.

HotInWinter · 12/01/2019 17:37

@heymammy I don't know about the girls section, but H&M, UK, had boys Jersey shorts in at the start of the month.

Its 25C here today. I've seen workmen in jackets and woolly hats. They think its freezing!

MepsiPax · 12/01/2019 17:42

Villanellesproudmum I read somewhere a couple of months back that there were quite a few postman wearing shorts for a bet, during the 'Beast from the East'!

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 12/01/2019 17:44

DH is the same, drives me nuts.

For him it's a weird getting older thing, just started in the last couple of years and he's fast heading toward 60.

I sit there in fleece layers and he moans he's cold wearing shorts and t shirt. It drives me potty.

Soontobe60 · 12/01/2019 17:46

Im afraid round where I live, the winter shorts wearing idiots are more often than not lads in gangs hanging round the local shops on their little brothers bikes, usually with one hand down the front of said shorts to jiggle their bits. 😂😂. Is one of them your husband OP?

SecretNutellaFix · 12/01/2019 17:47

One of the posties my DH knows told him that he prefers wearing shorts when it's cold and rainy because he absolutely hates wet trouser legs flapping against his skin all shift when delivering the post. Easier to dry.

However- recently at work (in a shop) I saw a bloke wearing a fleece, a puffa gilet, fleece joggers, woolly hat and fucking flip flops on a day when it was freezing cold and raining. His daughter was wearing fur lined boots and a summer dress. with nothing else on top.

Fifthtimelucky · 12/01/2019 18:22

@lazyarse123 I'm with you. I live in flip flops all year round. Went out in them today. Feet absolutely fine.
