Are these just for girls?

Posting for traffic, but DH thinks these are just for girls...I think unisex. My theory was I sized up for DS and thought that if he takes his school jumper off then the full length sleeved ones would look too long...

Are these just for girls?

Well Asda are advertising them as girl's tops.

TulipsInbloom1 · 07/01/2019 21:47

I don't recall any boys at school wearing 3/4 length sleeves. Full sleeves rolled up yes, but not ones that specifically stop at 3/4 length.

mnbvcxzlkjhgfdsa · 07/01/2019 21:48

Oh fuck

dementedpixie · 07/01/2019 21:48

You don't really get boys 3/4 sleeve shirts. My 2 (1 boy, 1 girl) just wear short sleeved shirts

Toughtips · 07/01/2019 21:49

Yeah just girls

Mitsuki · 07/01/2019 21:49

I'm not actually sure, I don't think boys would look bad in them, can he try them on?

MrsJDornan · 07/01/2019 21:50

Just girls, have never seen boys in 3/4, they either roll up long ones or wear short sleeved

BirdieInTheHand · 07/01/2019 21:51

Boys shirts button the other way round and three quarter sleeves are very feminine.

MapMyMum · 07/01/2019 21:51

I think they may well come in at the waist like most girls tops do and honestly he might get the piss ripped out of him

mnbvcxzlkjhgfdsa · 07/01/2019 21:52

Back to Asda I go

Biggreygoose · 07/01/2019 21:52

Girls.

You can tell by the buttons.

pepperknit · 07/01/2019 21:54

I mean, they are on a pink hanger, OBVIOUSLY they are for girls (blergh)

Ellie56 · 07/01/2019 21:55

They're definitely for girls. They fasten the girl's way and the plastic bit at the top of the packaging is pink. Grin

Boys either wear long sleeves, short sleeves or long sleeves rolled up.

jimmyhill · 07/01/2019 21:55

Narrow collar, tailored under the ribs, three quarter length sleeves, girliest shirts ever

GeorgieTheGorgeousGoat · 07/01/2019 21:55

They won’t have any proper cuffs, just a little hem and a slit in it.

Mitsuki · 07/01/2019 21:57

I didn't even see the pink hanger. Ugh. I hate that sort of colour stereotyping. (Sorry missing the point of the thread I know)

Ellisandra · 07/01/2019 21:58

Age 6-7 so waist shape unlikely to be an issue - if they’re even nipped in anyway. And I doubt any kids would know/notice the opposite buttoning.

But 3/4 length sleeves? Very much a noticeable “girl” style. Your husband is right!

FestiveGanesh · 07/01/2019 21:59

I wonder why we still have buttoning ways by gender.

goldengummybear · 07/01/2019 22:06

Unisex school tops are usually in blue or grey packaging so that boys willies don't fall off after wearing something in pink packaging.

Returning2thesceneofthecrime · 07/01/2019 22:13

Apparently gendered buttoning came about because ‘ladies’ (not women) were usually dressed by their maids whereas men and gentlemen would dress themselves. Not sure how true that is but [shrug]

I think those are aimed at girls. If your son wanted to use them, he should go ahead. It’s not like it is a ladies’ loo or changing room. But be aware he might be teased, depending not his age and friends’ awareness.

BiscuitDrama · 07/01/2019 22:15

If you want to size up, how about short sleeves?

M3lon · 07/01/2019 22:17

are they used in the vagina? No? Then I would imagine boys can use them too..

drinkygin · 07/01/2019 22:24

@M3lon 🙄🙄🙄🙄🙄 oh for god’s sake.
OP yes they are for girls. I’d exchange them for long or short sleeved ones.

M3lon · 07/01/2019 22:27

s'up?

surely anyone can see how utterly bonkers it is to suggest that boys can't/shouldn't wear 3/4 length sleeves?

I mean are their elbows defective in some way that I haven't noticed?

Seriously - fuck gender stereotypes.

Tillylantern · 07/01/2019 22:31

Theyre also buttoned on the opposite side as theyre girls although I dont think that would be as obvious as the 3/4 length sleeves
