Aibu to take them?

OP posts:

Why would it be unreasonable to take medication for a condition? I don’t understand!!!

Politicalacuityisathing · 07/01/2019 19:00

Yes I would (and have) so no Yanbu

PawPawNoodle · 07/01/2019 19:01

Assuming they're prescribed to you, I can't see any reason why you would be unreasonable.

CollyWombles · 07/01/2019 19:01

Some anti depressants are specifically geared for severe anxiety. I take anti depressants and have no intentions of coming off them after spending my twenties severely depressed and anxious but too stubborn to take medication. Totally changed my life and saved my life actually.

MaggieAndHopey · 07/01/2019 19:02

I would - I am currently medicated. But everyone is different, and medication that works for one person might not for another. Lots of factors to consider, not least that antidepressants will not have an immediate effect, and might well make you feel worse before you see any improvement.

needanappp · 07/01/2019 19:02

I would and have. Best thing I ever did bar the tough first few weeks.

DeadBod · 07/01/2019 19:02

If they have been prescribed for the anxiety then yes, of course I would.
Are you reluctant to take them?

LittleBearPad · 07/01/2019 19:03

Yes of course.

RubyWho · 07/01/2019 19:03

I would and have and would again. (Sertraline and fluoxetine)

YouLostTheGame · 07/01/2019 19:04

It’s your anxiety that is creating this question, don’t listen to it. Take the pills.

Bombardier25966 · 07/01/2019 19:04

Everyone on the last thread said it was a good idea to take them.

3luckystars · 07/01/2019 19:05

You mean you are not actually depressed so are wondering if taking the antidepressants are the right choice for anxiety?

If they were called 'anti anxiety tablets' it would be easier maybe.

CottonSock · 07/01/2019 19:06

Why not?

GissASquizz · 07/01/2019 19:06

Yep. I don't even think about it.

bridgetreilly · 07/01/2019 19:06

Only if they have been prescribed. Don't just take some that are lying around.

MattBerrysHair · 07/01/2019 19:06

I do myself so I couldn't criticise anyone else for doing so as well. I'm not sure why you think it might be an unreasonable thing to do. Is there more to this?

Hauskat · 07/01/2019 19:06

Yes I have. So have many people I know, some short term and some long term. No harm in doing some therapy too but can’t think of a single reason in the world why you wouldn’t take medication.

GobblersKnob · 07/01/2019 19:06

What is your concern?

FlyingElbows · 07/01/2019 19:07

Yes and I do. You've been told exhaustively that you should take the medication you've been prescribed. Do you honestly think a new thread is going to get you a different answer? Take the medicine, op.

ShinyMe · 07/01/2019 19:07

OP, you've been encouraged before on more than one thread to take this medication which has been prescribed for you. Take them! The GP has prescribed them for a reason.

iklboo · 07/01/2019 19:08

Yes. I do. They've been a real help. First couple of weeks took a little getting used to but now I'm feeling much better than I did.

I’m just reading some Adlerian psychology, and the thrust of his premise seems to be that if you DONT take the medication, you are choosing the consequences of that, and therefore have no right to moan.

alltoomuchrightnow · 07/01/2019 19:13

I do
Why on earth would you not want to help yourself?

CloserIAm2Fine · 07/01/2019 19:13

Take your prescribed tablets
