I had a lovely mug. With elephants on it- I like elephants a lot. Before Christmas, ds broke it. Proper accident, and he was properly sorry. For Christmas, he bought me a lovely new mug, with elephants on it. He tried to find an exact replacement, but they aren’t made any more. But this is a very, very nice, quite expensive mug. But it’s the wrong shape, too big, too thick, the handle’s wrong, the colour’s wrong and it makes my tea gets cold really quickly. And I don’t like it. And i’m going to have to drink my tea out of it every day until he leaves home. It’s bad enough that I had to put up with breakfast in bed twice a year for 15 years when I hate it to spare my children’s feelings. But now I have to drink out of a bad mug!!!!!!! He’s so pleased with himself for finding it and keeps offering to make tea.......Did I mention that my diamond shoes are too tight?

What a lovely son you have. Teenagers are fab Smile

BabySharkAteMyHamster - I had to laugh at your story. I have a nice glass , from when were in a pub and I admired the glass and asked where I could get one from. The barman winked and said they get broken all the time and he wouldn't notice if one went missing Grin

I still miss my mug with a Winnie the Poo picture in the original art style that my mum bought me on behalf of my little brother about 23 years ago. My husband broke it about 20 years ago. YANBU.

That is so lovely of our son to hunt out a new mug for you but I feel your pain over it not being "right" to drink from.

Take it to work and tell him you'll use it there as it will make you smile as it'll be a reminder of him, and how lovely and thoughtful he is, whilst you're at work (OK that might be a bit puke-inducing but it'll get you out of a hole)

OP Emma Bridgewater have a lovely elephant mug in their sale at the moment.

OverTheWeather · 14/06/2019 00:34

Use it as a pen holder and then it won't get broken.

I am so particular about the right mug.
