AIBU as a mother to think there is nothing better than watching your 15 yo gangly, long-legged lovely boy tucking into a giant bowl of cereal just after demolishing a giant dinner of pasta? Grin

I also call my 27yo my gorgeous girl.

All 4 of my DC are my gorgeous boys/girls. It's a term of endearment.

WhiffOfBath · 06/01/2019 22:20

I'm so GLAD you managed to fit CAPITALS into a ONE WORD post @NewYorkDoll3. That takes real SKILL.

CarolDanvers · 06/01/2019 22:20

I call my 12 year dd my darling girl as well and tell she’s strong, clever and funny every day. I tell her she’s one of the nicest people I have ever met, because she is, as is my son who I also say the same to. I feel lucky every day that I get to live with the two funniest, nicest people I ever met.

PhilomenaButterfly · 06/01/2019 22:22

And DS1's terminally ill and I'll call him what he damn well wants.

How rude. hmm Do you think mothers don't love their DAUGHTERS as much as when they were babies?! All you are doing is backing up what some posters have said about mothers of sons on here. hmm

How bizarre, there is nothing, absolutely nothing in that post to suggest anything at all about mothers of daughters and their attitudes etc.
Just a comment that mothers of teenage boys love them.

I have teenage boys and girls. They are adorable. Teens get such a bad press, and it is refreshing to be reminded that they are lovely and loveable.

different opinions are great, vitriol thinly disguised as an opinion is just boring really.

PortiaCastis · 06/01/2019 22:28

I call my 20yr old dd allsorts usually young maid but really depends if she's been a bit of a pita or not

Hiya Phil how're you doing maid ?

Buteo · 06/01/2019 22:45

Funny how Bert le Clos calling his son “my beautiful boy” on live TV at the London Olympics was seen as a memorable moment, but a mum saying it to her own son is seen as creepy?

SneakyGremlins · 06/01/2019 22:46

You call everyone Maid Portia Grin

PortiaCastis · 06/01/2019 22:48

You know me too well grems Xmas Grin

RancidOldHag · 06/01/2019 22:50

"And the mothers who call their 30 y.o. grown MEN 'my darling boys' are the ones who get snippy on here when someone refers to a 21 y.o female as a girl"

Are you one of the posters with a mythical spreadsheet, so you know exactly how posters group, and those groups intersect?

I think there's a massive difference between family terms of endearment, and the best term for an unrelated young adult.

PortiaCastis · 06/01/2019 22:54

I think we can call our dc anything we want and it's fuck all to do with anyone else because we love our dc no matter how old they are

CarolDanvers · 06/01/2019 22:59

My ds has autism and still at age 15 holds my hand to cross the road. He likes to hold my arm or put his arm round me while we walk too. He looks NT though so I do wonder if we get judged by sneery people who think being close to their older sons is “weird” or “odd”? I bet some posters on here would certainly be judging and sneering at that.

PortiaCastis · 06/01/2019 23:00

............ a mum on here has a ds who is terminally ill and she can also call her boy whatever she wants even though he's pushing 30.

PhilomenaButterfly · 06/01/2019 23:09

Thanks Portia.

ToeToToe · 06/01/2019 23:44

Philomena Thanks

Triglesoffy · 06/01/2019 23:50

Gorgeous Boy is better than You Little Prick which is what I hear a lot in my local city.

Fairyhill · 07/01/2019 00:53

I call my 26 year old daughter my baby face and have since she was baby- and she loves it - I call my 21 year old son my Baba ( not in front of his friends ) but he too loves it and give me a hug when I say it - I call my 16 year old boo - he also says he loves it as it’s my pet name for him.
I would nt call any of them those names in front of their friends - because frankly they are my term of endearment and much love not to be shared.

My children will always be my babies and they know it - my daughter at 26 is a girl .. my sons are boys .. they ll always be .. I m their mom .. 💕
My littlest is 2. Her term of endearment is beautiful...
my dad calls me my kid .and my darling . and I m 46 and he’s 71... he calls me his girl .. and it makes my heart happy to hear it.
To him I will always be his little girl .. and that has no way stopped me growing up .. but it has kept our bond.

This post really went off on one.
When it was a mom - lovingly watching her child’s healthy appetite... because I can tell you after watching my youngest son ill and barely unable to eat for two years... watching him being able to eat properly again is a joy I was scared I might never see again. .
This mom is just finding the joy.

My brother has always been like this and still eats loads at 52!

My dd is 16, tall and slim (5,9” which she hates). She has hungry days where she’ll eat a great dinner but then snack during the evening - usually toast and butter at the moment but has been pancakes or even cheesy chips 😬

The diffeerence is the guilt she feels for earing too much or eating unhealthy stuff and how she akways says “I feel so fat!” So I often emcourage her not to eat too much extra as it sometimes seems more of a compulsion to eat than an actual need.

SoleBizzz · 07/01/2019 04:37

My DS had full English breakfast with toast, sandwiches, Crisps, biscuits, pasta, veggies, salad. Cake and custard. 6'2". Size 32" waist. I'm so jealous.

SoleBizzz · 07/01/2019 04:37

Oh and two bananas

PhilomenaButterfly · 07/01/2019 05:29

Thanks Toe.
