AIBU as a mother to think there is nothing better than watching your 15 yo gangly, long-legged lovely boy tucking into a giant bowl of cereal just after demolishing a giant dinner of pasta? Grin

SneakyGremlins · 05/01/2019 19:45

I'm out of my teens now but would still eat that Grin

Somerville · 05/01/2019 19:46

I sit there stressing about running out of milk for the morning while mine does this.
I need a bigger fridge.

LaBelleSausage · 05/01/2019 19:46

You are wrong, and highly unreasonable.
In fact, there is nothing better than watching MY DS(13 months) giggling hysterically while he chases a balloon around the room Grin

werideatdawn · 05/01/2019 19:48

My six year old is already like this. He plans what he's going to have after dinner while he's still eating it and I don't know where he puts it all because there's nothing of him!

WatchingTheWheels85 · 05/01/2019 19:48

My 6yr old could easily eat 5 for breakfast. I dread to think how much he will eat when he's a teen. Luckily for him he's the height of an average 9yr old and very slim.

user1468942365 · 05/01/2019 19:49

My 8 year old DS had dinner the size of DH's, then finished my veg, his dad's chicken and has drained the milk out of the fridge. It amuses me. He's a lean, strong pole!! No doubt on third tangerine. Will be 4 Weetabix in before he'll speak tomorrow! Grin

Camomila · 05/01/2019 19:51

That's so sweet. Its especially lovely when they eat a giant portion of something you've made.

Toddler DS ate 2.5 bowls of pesto pasta with added chopped tomatoes the other day and kept complimenting it and asking if there was any more.

ipswichwitch · 05/01/2019 19:53

I have a 7yo that’s built like a racing snake but eats like an Olympic weightlifter! No idea where it all goes, but he likes to meal plan too, often while he’s on the current plate of food . An often heard phrase is “but I’m starving to death!!” - he has a penchant for the dramatic.

DuggeesWooOOooggle · 05/01/2019 19:56

My 34 year old DH is still like this! And he is also extremely slim.

Sunnysidegold · 05/01/2019 19:58

My 8 year old has just eaten two helpings of pasta.my 6 yr old has screwed his face up at it and is currently begging for a yogurt and banana.Confused

grumiosmum · 05/01/2019 19:58

OP it makes me feel like a bad mother. That I haven't fed him enough protein.

Stardustinmyeyes · 05/01/2019 19:58

My DS used to eat 7 weetabix for breakfast, he now has a small DS of his own and can't understand where DGS puts all the weetabix. I think well he's only 3 now, just wait

HateIsNotGood · 05/01/2019 19:59

As the DM of a 17year old I completely agree - they actually do start becoming even more lovelier and lovelier - although there were a few years that would be hard to believe.

OP we are probably destined to become the MILs that so many MNers seem to despise (loving our sons no matter what) - I hope not, and really look forward to meeting the people that DS wants to form relationships with.

See what I did there? Managed to make a connection between eating lots of Weetabix and 'growing up'. There isn't one really.

YANBU.

Buteo · 05/01/2019 20:02

Just wait until he takes up power lifting and can empty a fridge full of eggs, chicken, salmon, milk and cheese in less than a day.

AuntieStella · 05/01/2019 20:03

I love it when larger teens eat like that!

Even though IME it means they're still growing, and are about to spurt up another inch. Tallest is 6ft 2, and can eat pretty much a whole pack of rice cakes with nutella as his 'but Mum I'm still hungry' fodder

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/01/2019 20:08

My 19yo is very food restricted (its him , I don't restrict him) and lives on fresh air .

He recently said "I might try some pasta" and ate a bowl plus some cheesey garlic bread.

Not a giant step for mankind but a huge leap for him Grin

lightlypoached · 05/01/2019 20:14

@grumiosmum I neglected to mention the meatballs and pile of Parmesan and salad with olives......!

BitOutOfPractice · 05/01/2019 20:16

70isaLimitNotaTarget that's so great! I bet you felt like crying!

lightlypoached · 05/01/2019 20:17

HateIsNotGood I love them more as they get bigger. waaaaaaaah! Sad

brizzledrizzle · 05/01/2019 20:18

OP it makes me feel like a bad mother. That I haven't fed him enough protein.

They are very good at self regulating what they eat and will get enough protein. My 15 year old (thin and lanky) will miss meals when he's not hungry but then catch up later with masses of protein.

theWarOnPeace · 05/01/2019 20:19

Ha! I can imagine. My almost grown up nephew has always eaten like a horse, so it’s very satisfying for me as someone who is a bit of a feeder to keep dishing up delights for him to hoover up. My children eat really well, but nowhere near the sheer scale of him as they’re still primary age. When he ‘pops in’ he eats and eats and eats, it’s like The Tiger Who Came To Tea. I love watching all that health and energy going straight in! I always feel a similar feeling as when you’ve given someone a really nice present and they’re delighted, it’s something a bit like that.

HavelockVetinari · 05/01/2019 20:22

Ooh, I look forward to those days - DS (17 months) is currently refusing to eat anything except bread, fruit and yoghurt. Lovingly prepared organic dinners are thrown angrily on the floor, to join the expensive mango and blueberries. He just wants bananas! Confused

Buteo · 05/01/2019 20:24

My power lifter started on bananas - I think 4 in one day at about 18 months old was his record.

Notso · 05/01/2019 20:29

Weird thread. I'd be pissed off if mine ate that much.

starsorwater · 05/01/2019 20:31

Oh, I I wish! Our mushroom hating, palm oil loathing, plastic free vegan is vanishing before our eyes.
