What is acceptable on a night out?

Friend and I having a debate on what is acceptable on a night out when you're in a LTR.

She thinks flirting and dancing with the opposite sex is okay on a night out as long as it goes no further and I don't think that's acceptable!

Taking to the MN jury for this one!!

Perhaps you shouldn't ever go out without your man then? Hmm

Don't be ridiculous! Of course you can dance and flirt with the opposite sex.

ShinyMe · 04/01/2019 20:27

You don't think dancing is acceptable?

What sort of dancing do you do?!

Idontbelieveinthemoon · 04/01/2019 20:27

I think anything you wouldn't/couldn't openly admit to is unacceptable.

Amorea · 04/01/2019 20:27

I wouldn't be impressed if my DH danced and flirted with other women, and I don't think he'd be impressed if I did the same!

houser · 04/01/2019 20:27

She means like flirty/dirty (don't know how to explain it without cringing!) with someone of the opposite sex!

Onestep2 · 04/01/2019 20:30

Do you mean like slut dropping and grinding up and down other men? Lol

freeAnneBoleyn · 04/01/2019 20:30

I wouldn’t flirt or dance. (I mean I would, but not specifically with a random bloke) I might chat. I might chat to be polite if I was with a single mate and she was chatting up a man’s mate or something. Only if he wasn’t a twat. Wouldn’t accept being bought a drink. I have my own money, cheers, there’s no need even if I WAS on the lookout.

Any more than that and I’d have to conclude that I didn’t give much of a shit about the LTR.

Teachtolive · 04/01/2019 20:31

It's ok, it's the internet, no one can see you cringe.

BIWI · 04/01/2019 20:33

Well what do you mean then? Try using words ...

Snoz · 04/01/2019 20:33

Absolutely fine. Once you're not openly dancing with a man while your boyfriend is there in preference to him, when you're out, why not go out, flirt, dance etc.
For reference (I'm 42), so wouldn't be seen dead dancing lol.

Silkei · 04/01/2019 20:35

Why would you lead someone on if you’re already in a relationship? Disgraceful behaviour and I would see it as cheating.

ComtesseDeSpair · 04/01/2019 20:36

I think it’s fine if you’d happily tell your partner what you’d done / wouldn’t be fussed if they saw you doing it. If you wouldn’t tell them or want them to see because you know they’d be upset, then it’s unacceptable.

Personally, I wouldn’t mind. But I acknowledge I’m relatively exceptional in that.

user1493413286 · 04/01/2019 20:36

Neither are: if a man chats to me on a night out I’ll be friendly but will mention my DH in chat so it’s clear I’m not interested. A dance again depends but can’t say I’ve danced with a man while ive been in a a relationship

Oysterbabe · 04/01/2019 20:39

No man will want you to flirt and dance with him if there's no possibility of sex, or a snog at the very least. Why lead people on?

Bluntness100 · 04/01/2019 20:39

No, she should not dance with the opposite sex.

Bluntness100 · 04/01/2019 20:41

I'm assuming these are sarcasm? Confused

Paddy1234 · 04/01/2019 20:42

Bloody hell I will be damned then
I love going out, having a dance, not flirting intentionally, drink and go home
It is who I am - and I am faithful

Drogosnextwife · 04/01/2019 20:42

Well I wouldn't be happy if my dp went out and danced and flirted with other woman and I wouldn't do it to him plus I wouldn't really want to, its attention seeking.why feel the need to flirt and dance with other men when in a LTR?

Ifangyow · 04/01/2019 20:44

Of course you should flirt and dance with the opposite sex on a night out. It's a guaranteed way of getting a drink bought. Why spend your own hard earned cash? 😁

bourbonbiccy · 04/01/2019 20:58

I wouldn't be flirty dancing with another man, because I actually wouldn't want to. I don't see what you are getting from it if you are happily married ???.

SlowNorris · 04/01/2019 21:01

Grin

Betty777 · 04/01/2019 21:02

Surely with both flirting and dancing there is a fine line somewhere when it crosses from innocent, to unacceptable. I guess anything you wouldn't want your partner seeing your do is where that line is.

Some/most London clubs & dancefloors are crowded enough that dancing is often up very close by necessity and therefore almost instantly crossing that line IYSWIM?

sonjadog · 04/01/2019 21:04

Is she like Baby in Dirty Dancing? If so, I might see your point.

OurChristmasMiracle · 04/01/2019 21:06

Wouldn’t dance with a man when out. Will happily dance with any of my female friends when out. (OH knows this and this is the main reason we go out. To have a giggle, catch up and have a good dance).

Wouldn’t flirt with other men either.

I’m happy for my other half to go out with his friends and wouldn’t be bothered if he was dancing with them.

Depends on the Male whether I would accept a drink. A friends partner/brother/ someone I actually know- yeah why not. A stranger then no.

GhostSauce · 04/01/2019 21:08

Does she literally mean twerking on someone's cock?

Or a jolly dance about to Time Warp?

Two v different scenarios.

Does the word twerk make anyone else want to be sick a little bit?
