Your most bizarre claim to fame story

So, I haven't slept with MH or anybody remotely famous, but have plenty of bizarre claim to fame stories (of my own and family/friends).

My two faves are that Florence Welch ran over my foot with her bicycle and broke my toe. I don't think she realised but she was gigging back in the day and had cycled to the venue (where I worked). She jumped on her bike to push it out of the office and ride home and went straight over my foot, snapping my toe on my left foot.

My darling sil, who is quite the character was in the company of some top music people, drank too much wine at an album party, started dancing and launched her shoe accidentally in her vigour smacking old Sir BG right in the chops apparently. She then repeated said move at my wedding and smashed a load of wine glasses. She's a good 20 years my senior.

C'mon now spill.

I got the autographs of some of the members of Def Leppard when I went to see them live an Joe came into the audience and stood on one of the steps the other side of the barricade and he used my hand to lower himself down, it actually kinda hurt.
I also met Anthony Warrol Thompson and the good food show when I was at school, got his autograph too and had a laugh with him.
I have one or too others but they could be rather outing.
@LearningMySelfWorth can't believe you met Robert Carlyle, I have rather a crush on him. Blush

WeBuiltThisBuffetOnSausageRoll · 03/01/2019 02:13

I slept with someone who had slept with Margaret off of Brookside.

Pah! Have you ever actually starred in Brookside, though? My arm did one - they were filming a scene at Alton Towers when I was there on a school trip.

When the episode was broadcast, we watched it back carefully and it was unmistakeable - shoulder to mid fore-arm, definitely the t-shirt I was wearing.

It's been a lifetime of torment having to work so hard to keep three quarters of one of my limbs humble and grounded after such a momentous role Grin

LearningMySelfWorth · 03/01/2019 02:15

@Vampiratequeen, tbh I quite like him as Mr Gold in OUAT. Not sure what that says about me as a person though but I do remember finding it rather difficult to watch the series early on because of how horrible his characters were and how lovely he is in reality.

Threeminis · 03/01/2019 02:21

Gavin Hastings asked me for my room number when I was 15

Lifecanbeabeach- We LOVE your daughter’s advert. She is just so adorable and we see it loads as we go regularly to the local Vue cinema. Whenever I book online and get the question about donating to “Medicinema” I think of her advert and also make sure I donate; I bet many others do too!

FrankiesKnuckle · 03/01/2019 02:43

My second cousin, who I've never met, was in a nineties boy band.

I worked as a chambermaid one summer in Germany and cleaned bedrooms for:
Tina Turner - do not look at Miz Turner
Prince - three-way interconnecting bedrooms with him in the middle and two female guests
Billy Bragg - very friendly, not too hot on personal hygiene
Jon Bon Jovi - his wife had a new baby, very small, and clearly wanted to be anywhere in the world but Frankfurt
Bruce Springsteen - ate a LOT of crisps

Skinidin · 03/01/2019 03:18

I had the same gynaecologist as the Queen.

Richard Ayoade was my neighbour and HE started a conversation with me!

Er, that's it.

I think.

Skinidin · 03/01/2019 03:29

What was I thinking?

Just remembered, my SIL fined Gordon brown for over due library books when he was at Edinburgh Uni AND had a friend who dated Colonel Gaddafi.

I'm really not lying about that.

Skinidin · 03/01/2019 03:31

And another thing (sorry).

Adam Faith bought me a g & t when I was an extra on Stardust (at Bellevue Manchester).

God knows what I will have remembered by 7 am.

steff13 · 03/01/2019 03:35

Richard Ayoade was my neighbour and HE started a conversation with me!

Oh I have such a crush on him. Tell he is as adorable as he seems.

Hellomatey001 · 03/01/2019 03:35

I was in a queue at a cafe right behind Debbie Dingle from Emmerdale ( actress Charley Webb). I eas chatting to a friend when I mentioned I wanted chips but could not afford it as I had not brought enough money. She turned around and said she'd pay for the chips for me! I refused as I was embarrassed but she insisted. She did so with minimum fuss n a random act of kindness. Smile

Zoflorabore · 03/01/2019 03:39

I had an argument with 90's footballer Paul Ince at a bar in Liverpool over who was next on playing pool. I put my pound down and be nicked it! Was on thousands a week at the time and he nicked my quid!

Also sat on a plane to New York next to Grant Mitchell from easties and got drunk together.

I invented the Internet.

You may not believe me - sorry if the truth is inconvenient for you Grin

cantfindname · 03/01/2019 03:59

I cooked lunch for Ross Kemp. And, on a separate occasion, for Joanna Lumley. I had a long and very informal chat with Princess Anne, both of us laughing our heads off, and I hadn't recognised her!

And the bizarre one.. I worked for someone who downsized and wanted rid of there very little used bed which had been slept in by Richard Attenborough. Used to make me giggle to say I slept in RA's bed.

thedishonthecoffeetable · 03/01/2019 04:02

When I was about 8 I lived next door to Mark Lester, who played Oliver in the musical film. I can remember when they moved in and his mum saying to my mum, we are the Lesters, you may have seen us on tv. They did have a good firework display on bonfire night though, not that we were invited, we watched out the bedroom window.

mindutopia · 03/01/2019 04:34

I worked with a charity that does a lot of glitzy events with celebs and designers and such. We did a tour of sorts of the charities sites in China with Alan Cumming, who was a big supporter of the organisation and sort of fronted a campaign for them. So I spent about 2 weeks traveling with him and his husband- he’s truly the loveliest person you will ever meet, so down to earth and really friendly and warm. Anyway, one night we all went out to a restaurant in Beijing (and got riotously drunk on martinis) and ended up sitting at a table next to Ian Thorpe, the Olympic swimmer. Ian had always been rumoured to be gay, but vigorously denied it. He came over as we were finishing dinner to inquire about where the best gay bars were in Beijing and where we were headed next and we ended up taking him and his entourage gay bar hopping even though he was totally ‘straight’. So I ended up spending the evening with Alan Cumming and Ian Thorpe (who was pretending to not really be gay, he did come out a few years later though). Sadly, I didn’t last too much longer and don’t remember much, because too many martinis...

Oh and my friend dated Uma Thurman for many years.

My auntie used to be a puppeteer and worked on many many shows including Allsorts and Lazytown :)

Met Bobby Charlton around 25 years ago, he was lovely!

brizzledrizzle · 03/01/2019 05:51

Our next door neighbour when my children were growing up is a famous sportsman and my three dcs played with his three. His wife isn't famous though.

BillywigSting · 03/01/2019 06:01

My dad went to college (uni) in Dublin and was the entertainments officer. He arranged U2's first ever gig.

He says Bono was a tit even then.

Steven Gerard once bought me a pint.

I've been on grange hill.

I've been to a house party with the zutons (the lead singer of which is also a tit and was at the time coked up the eyeballs)

CountersurfingPerf · 03/01/2019 06:19

I hand washed the dishes Barry White had eaten from after a gig.

John Torode (knob) rested his newspaper on my sisters head on a crowded tube.

HidingBehindThisBox · 03/01/2019 06:21

I am the daughter in law of an act that made it through to the BGT live shows in 2017.

emwithme · 03/01/2019 06:39

Anthony Hopkins pushed in front of me at the bar at the RSC in Stratford in 1994.
