That if you were born in 1997 you were not a 90's kid

Just as the title says really. They would have only been 3 by the year 2000. They are a 00's kid, right?

My cut off for anyone claiming they are a child of the decade they were born in is 19X3 maybe 19X4 at a push and even then most of their childhood would have been spent in the next decade

OP posts:

I was born in 76 and consider myself a 90s kid as that’s when my best teenage years were!

Poodloo · 02/01/2019 21:42

It's quite interesting seeing the different views on this!

DeepIn40 · 02/01/2019 21:45

78, 80s child, teenager of the 90s.

DaedricLordSlayer · 02/01/2019 21:47

neddle ahh thank you, makes sense now. I only remember a few of them. But the house hold ones stuck in my mind the one with the boiling hot pan with its handle just waiting for the little girl to grab it, still makes me shudder.

BitchQueen90 · 02/01/2019 21:50

I was born in 1990 and I consider myself a 90s kid. 1997 is not a 90s kid!

DavedeeDozyBeakyMickandTich · 02/01/2019 21:53

My sister and I were born 89 and 91 respectively and definitely 90s kids! It's got to be the decade you actually grew up in not just born in. But I would also consider ourselves 00s kids too as we were still growing up then. Though I find the 00s harder to define

brizzledrizzle · 02/01/2019 21:56

I'm deffo a 70s kid. As evidenced by my nervous air when arm twisted to set foot on a farm, or escalator.

I'm curious, why?

MammaSchwifty · 02/01/2019 21:56

Born at the start of the 80s, I'm a 90s kid. I can't remember much about life before around 1990 anyway!

Honeyroar · 02/01/2019 21:59

I was born in '69. I was a 60s child, but my childhood was the 70s and 80s. The 80s are my era.

Didyeeaye · 02/01/2019 22:08

Yeah it's generally the decade you were raised in. I was 1989 so definitely a 90s kid

OneWildNightWithJBJ · 02/01/2019 22:16

Born in '77 and definitely an '80s kid. Don't think of myself as a '90s kid at all, was a teen and young adult!

PorpentinaScamander · 02/01/2019 22:18

I was born in 84 and consider myself to be a 80s and 90s kid as I was growing up in both of those decades.

I was a 90s and 00s teen. Although only the very early 00s

ShortandSweet96 · 02/01/2019 22:23

As my user name suggests, I'm a 90's born baba. But I remember the 00's most, making me a technical 00's kid.

With that said, I fucking hate anyone under the age of 16 at the moment. What us wrong with these young'uns?! They are so self entitled! Or is that just in my area? I live pretty rural.

youarenotkiddingme · 02/01/2019 22:24

Born in 80:

Always said I was 80/90's kid. My teen to adulthood phase was 90's so that's when I 'grew up' iyswim!

Mudmonster · 02/01/2019 22:24

Born in 1980 I’m an 80s kid and 90s teen.
I got the best of both worlds, great 80s kids toys and tv and 90s music.

MargotsFlounceyBlouse · 02/01/2019 22:26

74 and I'm a proper 80s kid but definitely not 70s in terms of what I remember.

YourEggnogIsBetterThanMine · 02/01/2019 22:30

Born '84 and def a 90s kid.

1997 would definitely be a 00s kid and unworthy of a 90s kid title.

knittedjest · 02/01/2019 22:40

I was born in '68 and as far as I'm concerned what we perceive to be culturally the 90's didn't really end until around '04, can maybe even stretched as far as 07. The line between the 90's and early 2000's is very blurred right up until the invent of smart tech.

DramaAlpaca · 02/01/2019 22:44

My DS agrees OP. He's 21, born in 1997 & considers himself a millennial as he can't remember the late 90s.

I was born in '64 & I consider myself a 60s child because I can remember things from the 60s.

funinthesun18 · 02/01/2019 22:48

I agree. I was born right at the end of 1989 so I was definitely a 90s kid.
A kid born in 1997 spent the majority of their childhood in the 00’s, so they are a 00’s kid. They won’t have very many memories of the 90’s if any at all.

Frlrlrubert · 02/01/2019 22:54

'84 baby.

I'd consider myself mostly a '90s kid.

Though I do have a healthy phobia of farms and electricity substations (they were still showing us those videos).

ReverseGiraffe · 02/01/2019 23:11

Born in 92. Consider myself both a 90s and 00s kid.

DanielRicciardosSmile · 02/01/2019 23:13

I was born in 75 and definitely consider myself an 80s kid.

RoodleNoodle · 02/01/2019 23:16

I'm not a 90s kid and I was born in 94 😁

KnobOfStork · 02/01/2019 23:16

I was born in 96 but brought up by my grandparents so I was basically a 70s kid Grin
