to ask what slippers you wear?

Dog chewed my slippers (to be fair they were falling apart anyway) and am shopping for a new pair. We have stone floors so need something on my feet in the mornings!

I was bought a pair of Ugg scuffette slippers as a (bloody marvellous) Christmas present a few years ago butI wore them to death and definitely can't justify spending £80 on a pair of slippers! I did love the hard sole and shearling/fluffy inside though!

Anyone have any secret slipper knowledge that they can share of alternatives that are a bit less eye-watering on price!? Smile

I got really nice ones from fatface in the sale just last week. They feel really well made.

candlefloozy · 01/01/2019 20:22

I have ugg ones and won't ever change. Sorry that's not what you want to hear. But they're heaven!

y0rkier0se · 01/01/2019 20:27

Ugg ones but from the outlet store at MacArthur Glen (we use the one in York but you may have one close) they were £40 😊

I love these ones because I can run outside to hang laundry and back in Smile

Not cheap but on my second year and looking brand new

Thebookswereherfriends · 01/01/2019 20:29

Moshulu. Dp bought them for me last year and they’re the comfiest slippers I’ve ever had and are lasting really well. They have a good sole which means you run out to the bin and they’re also not frumpy looking.

Bedroom athletics bootie ones. They can be quite expensive but so soft and comfy Grin

Raggedyaine · 01/01/2019 20:31

I got some fab Gumbies recently.

I was given a pair of these Danish felt house shoes and they're bloody lovely

FrigideBarjot · 01/01/2019 20:40

Just Sheepskin mule style with a hard sole. Had them a year and still like new.

Aragog · 01/01/2019 20:45

I don't wear slippers but dh does. He has ones from Mahabis which he really likes.

Kittykatmacbill · 01/01/2019 21:07

Costco ‘uggs’ - no stone floors but a rickety cottage.

Mahabis but I just learned they went into administration a couple of days ago. Sad

Got these Hotters slippers for Christmas. Love them and they're now in the sale. www.hotter.com/gb/en/heart-slippers?searchterm=heart%20slippers

I found Moshulu very uncomfortable, they have a ridge, like many of the Totes ones, and also the sizing is a bit small.

I have Free Step ones, slip ons with birds/animals on, not the older person ones, they have good soles so can be worn outside. I also wear some cheap Asda George ones, soft and fluffy but mostly wear fabric flip flops (not ones with a toe post) as they also have a sole suitable to pop outside in. About £5.00 on Ebay and last ages.

sycamore54321 · 02/01/2019 00:53

If you can afford the Ugg’s without anyone going hungry, then I’d say you should reconsider and just re-purchase the ones that you loved. £80 for something worn every morning for a few years sounds like brilliant value. You know you like that style and you know they endure. So you are at risk of a false economy if you choose others you don’t like as much.

(I only say this because you said “can’t justify” rather than “can’t afford” in your OP. I am guilty often of not feeling deserving enough of nice things so just giving you a little nudge as your post read a bit the same way.

Separately, to all slipper-wearers reading this, if you live in a home why stairs, I want to tell a cautionary tale against open-backed slippers. I’ve just learned of a colleague who fell down the stairs when her mule-style slipper slipped and she has ended up with appalling injuries - spinal fractures etc. I had often heard of open slippers being dangerous on stairs but never really thought seriously about it as I personally prefer the closed ones anyway. So be careful out there!

VeryFoolishFay · 02/01/2019 01:15

I got these for Christmas - gorgeous! Am very careful on the stairs though.

None, I hate slippers and have never worn them.

agnurse · 02/01/2019 02:23

If you know an older person, or someone who works with older people, ask what type of slippers the seniors wear.

Reason being, seniors have a greater risk for falls, so they need good footwear. I bought Hubby a pair of "old man slippers" a few years ago and he loves them.

Meralia · 02/01/2019 04:37

Skechers bobs. I live in those slippers!
